A Little Piece of My Soul

@livingmeatloaf / livingmeatloaf.tumblr.com

A personal blog full of many things. Also, not great at tagging stuff. I often reblog 18+/NSFW things. An adult runs this blog. I do not respond to solicitations for donations in DMs.

Twitter - retweeting, promo posts for fics, general chatting sometimes. Will be using less often

Bsky - all threadfics moving forward, general chatting and engagement, art, etc. This will likely become my next-most-active fandom account, as twitter dies out

#bpsyau for ongoing Beast Peak Shen Yuan AU thread fic (currently links to twitter, as i haven't picked it up on bsky yet)

LivingMeatloaf AO3 - for edited threadfics

Ko-fi, if you'd like to leave me a tip for my work

Looking at Scandinavian interior design and thinking about how much cooler the world would be if the nordic countries took the South American approach to decor

Apparently white walls and light wood are good for reflecting light (true) and the intentionality and simplicity is partly a reflection of agrarian poverty. But I’m just saying. What if these guys used the extra darkness hours to go insane and paint indoor murals that they regretted in May

EXACTLY and they have perfect folklore for this! It should be a normal christmas tradition wake up at 1PM in the dark because you missed today’s 16 minutes of sun, and across from you is a pile of empty aquavit bottles and a living room wall about Fenrir’s top surgery or some shit

Ive got splendid news!

This used very much to be tradition (trademark for norway) and is called rosemaling (meaning “rose painting”, so mostly floral and not mythological, but still painted all over the interior!).

It’s very cool!

Why newer schools of interior design went away from it I don’t know, it’s too bad.

Throwback to the time I stood inside a reconstruction of Cappelenstugu, a house where every single surface was painted with rosemaling, and nearly burst into tears because it's so fucking beautiful. The pictures I can find on the museum website don't quite do it justice, but it's just. staggering. artist Olav Hanssen did this around 1800, in an enclosed space without reliable strong artificial light, and covered every single surface in gorgeous, intricate artwork (featuring Adam and Eve hiding after eating the apple, among other things).

i understand that this might be a hard pill to swallow for some people but the fact is that as a tme trans person you are often in a relatively safe position to advocate for your trans sisters. and i get that that can be awkward, realizing that the cis people in your life see you as the "acceptable" (ie: not transfem) kind of trans, i urge you to swallow your discomfort and try to chip away at your loved ones' transmisogyny. it is an excellent way to use your relative privilege for good.

i have done this myself and it's not easy, it's genuinely fucking exhausting sometimes and you may feel like crying afterwards, but given how hostile the world currently is towards trans people, especially trans women, i don't think it's something you can afford to not do

i have cis relatives i have done this with to varying degrees of success. i understand that it's scary and you may be scared that you're going to make them withdraw the support they've shown for you altogether, but we are a community and we need to stand up for each other as much as possible. now, more than ever, you need to have your trans sisters' backs even if it means having an uncomfortable conversation with your aunt or your coworker or your sister's boyfriend

i gotta be honest and this isn't meant as some kind of reprimand to OP so don't get it twisted on that at all but literally the worst possible response you're going to get to this isn't as bad as what the average trans woman goes through on a good day. i can count all the defenders i've had in my life on one hand and they've basically all been transmasc and literally nothing bad has ever happened to them for sticking up for me. and it has always made a huge difference

like even if it does backfire there's a sort of honour in facing a consequence for a decision you made to do the right thing. and that isn't something trans women ever get to have either. because we're always wrong no matter what. so. please just do it

drawing inspired by one of the tanks at the Shedd Aquarium… arapaima my beloved

day and night version because i’m indecisive!

I think it's doubly frustrating that when I see something in nature that I don't understand, I look it up! Because someone smarter than me has probably written about migratory patterns. So like... when I saw a tree that was just FULL of cormorants, I learned that cormorants have migratory flocks that number into the thousands. And i was excited just to see ONE cormorant.

And i like doing that! But I think not everyone knows you can just look things up. So when people freak out about seeing an animal, I'm trying to be nice by explaining it- but sometimes I'm like... you called the cops on a turkey?

i can’t wait for when chatGPT and ai image generation also crashes and each prompt cost $50 an attempt. oh you can’t get your stolen big tiddy anime ghibli art for free anymore? you want to buy real big boy art from real artists now? beg for it. beg for it like a dog.
