Metalheads for Black Lives Matter

Please be patient with post content this month. summer and fall are the absolute worst for my health issues so if posts stop coming, it's because I couldn't keep up with the queue. -fae

Since the Supreme Court intends to overturn Roe v Wade

It would be a real shame if someone were to just remind you that even people that don't do drugs often keep Narcam on hand in case they witness someone else that needs it.

Would also be a real shame if I stated that and just...

Oops... I sneezed and my finger slipped... where did all of these links come from? Weird...

(PlanC and AidAccess seems to be the most popular. The Brigid Alliance provides funds to travel and any other funds you need.)

Would also be a REAL SHAME if this went viral, giving access to uterus healthcare.

-fae

Elevated Access is a group of volunteer pilots that offers to fly people in America for free to a state where they can legally get the gender affirming or reproductive care they need.

(This is just transportation to states where gender affirming care and reproductive care isn't illegal and you'll have to find other resources to actually get help paying for said treatment.)

As a disabled person, I'm so sick of seeing these anti-abortion laws coming through. Because they keep blocking disabled people with a uterus from getting the medication they need because it could count as an abortificiant (is that the word?).

Anyways. I'm not going to remove this pinned post until abortion is made legal country wide again.

I'm only going to keep it updated with birth control options.

The FDA’s decision to approve Opill, the country’s first over-the-counter birth control pill, was quickly cheered by reproductive-rights advocates who believe it will dramatically expand access to birth control.

Fae here, I'm still technically on break.

I came to check something and I saw Reaux's goodbye.

I would like to clarify. I do not owe anyone an explanation of my health.

I stated "I would like a break due to side effects of my medication effecting my decision making skills."

I was met with "Well I would like to have a serious conversation about what happened in the past."

Followed by requests for updates on when I thought the side effects of my meds would go away.

I did not feel comfortable explaining when my doctor pushed my follow up appointment 2 months back because the office fucked up my appointment. Given how I felt I was being treated when I started the conversation with "I'm not okay."

And I was aware that people would make their own assumptions whether I communicated or not.

For the record the side effects of my medication only cleared up a couple of weeks ago because the doctor changed my prescription.

This is not to say "I will not take accountability" or whatever. If someone says they don't trust their own ability to make decisions, that's not the time to start a serious conversation.

Any assumptions made thereafter is... not my fault. I was literally so honest from the very start of the conversation, and I stated where I was at first.

I'm going back on my mental health break.

Currently if you're disabled in the United States you cannot save over $2000. Having $2001 would put your disability benefits at risk. Also many disabled people have been unable to get married because if they get married their spouse's income will count against them. There is currently a bill in the senate that will increase that facing limit to $10,000 as well as grant marriage equality to disabled people.

A lot of my favorite disability advocates have been sharing this, but she's the only one that's explained both of the benefits of this bill. Petition to support the bill linked underneath the video.

Virtual Fibercrafts Skillshare THIS SATURDAY!

From our Climate Action Youth Advocate and General Volunteers:

BFP’s first Skillshare will be on Saturday 1/27 at 7:00 pm EST! Stop by if you want to learn how to make warm clothing to donate to your local community!

Here are the supplies you will need: Fibercrafts require very little to get started. For crocheting, you will need yarn (in this demonstration we will be using #4 worsted weight yarn, but other weights can be used, you just have to adjust the gauge), and a crochet hook (we will be demonstrating on a H/8 or 5 mm hook. Others will work, and if using yarn of a different size, be sure to check the standard gauges for your yarn).

For sewing, you will need fabric that is stiff enough to work with (fleece, flannel, and cotton will work,) sewing needles, some sewing pins, and thread.

A note on materials: cotton yarn is best for beginners as it is stiffer, harder to break, and doesn’t fray as easily, while aluminum hooks are best for beginners as they withstand pressure. Dollar stores and Walmart sell sewing kits cheaply, which are acceptable for beginner projects. You may have to buy extra thread, or pins separately. Nylon and polyester threads tend to be the easiest to work with. Some beginners also prefer double-sided sewing tape in place of pins.

TOMORROW!!!

remember to check the events tab in discord and check the interested button!

Hello,

It's Fae, the original creator of the blog.

This is a noncommittal nonanswer to my extended hiatus beyond an explanation of the fact that it's no longer physical health related and it's now mental health related.

I got news that I'd have to deal with something that I've been avoiding literally forever. It will take an extended period of time. I've been avoiding it because of the strain it takes on my mental health. I cannot commit to a resolution because naming a resolution date will only further negatively impact my mental health especially given how long I've been avoiding it.

I've been avoiding saying this because I'm sure people will make assumptions about my extended absence but I'm stating it because they'll make assumptions anyways. At least I'm stating my intention now.

(All I can say this it's completely unrelated to online activity. This isn't purely about mental health. It's about things I need to take care of in my physical life. Just taking care of them is mentally and emotionally straining which is why I need the break.)
