Hello 🐳 I'm Circlejourney

they/them, adult, chicken and cetacean enthusiast

I make a lot of things. I have a creative-work-focused blog for finished works: @circlejourneyart.

Useful links:

  • My website - I try to keep this up to date with all my main projects.
  • My link list
  • Offshore, that competitive sailing novel I keep talking about
  • Compass, that dreamlike sailing (hyper)comic I keep talking about

Other accounts:

  • @windowtoworlds - OC art zine I co-run every couple of years
  • @seaunseenzine - marine art zine I co-run every couple of years
  • @ocshare - sharing OC posts that deserve more love
  • @re-locative - my PhD research blog
  • @plotwarren - I throw all the story plots that pop into my head (but I know I will never make) there.

Stuff I post about a lot (subject to change):

  • Whales
  • Birds
  • Marine vessels and the sea
  • Maps, flags and navigation
  • Biology
  • Astronomy
  • My life
  • My creative projects
  • My programming project

Oh yes, there will be lots of OC art. So much OC art.

I don't know which artist needs to hear this, but if you don't like your lineart...if you find that the lineart stage does not add any value to your artwork...then you do not need to do lineart. your artwork is still complete if you go straight from sketch to colours. as long as you think it's complete.

The same goes for any stage of art making. does shading not bring joy or improve the piece in your eyes? then you do not need to shade! some art styles genuinely look better without shading!

this goes for writers too: if you find you don’t benefit from outlining, don’t do it! it’s OK, i promise! you can find other systems that work better for you

My right ear hearing suddenly got much worse in the past 48 hours, now I'm in the process of repeating all the hearing tests in fast forward through private/urgent clinics and also trying not to lose my mind over the possibilities

Hopefully the hearing tests will actually find something that they didn't pick up 2 years ago (where it was "something's going on but we don't know what")
