Hello! I absolutely love your commissioned fanart of Spock and Uhura playing ka'athyra and kora for @jolaoso48's The Returning! I'm doing a project for a class on Islamic pop music that involves making fake magazine ads and if you're willing, I'd love to use your piece to make a fake ad for a musical fusion concert with the two of them. Totally okay if the answer is no, but thank you in advance!

Hi there,

You have my blessing to use the piece, absolutely! I only ask that you cite my name in the bibliography for your project and include a link to one of my socials.

If you're up to it, I'd love to see the final project when you're done!

I so appreciate you asking, and best of luck with your project! πŸ’•

Hi friend! ☺️

Whats your favorite part of the creative process? Whether it be for writing or drawing.

Hi love!

Thank you for asking.

My favorite part of the creative process, writing or drawing, is when it all starts to finally come together and leap off the page. In art, that's when the shadows and highlights play just right and the piece no longer looks flat but big, alive, and breathing. In writing, it's when all I can hear in my head are the voices of the characters through every word. It's a feeling that takes me out of myself, my ego, my hands, and I come apart from the thing I've created and marvel at it as if it's brand new.

If I don't have this moment with a piece of art or writing, it doesn't get published. Ugh, it's the best.

Thank you for the question!

If you could relive any of your memories, which would it be?

Wow, what a gorgeous question!

This is a tough one. I'd say my wedding day, but my husband and I got married twice (once during COVID and a second time after restrictions eased up so we could enjoy the full reception we paid for). I've loved any day we went to the ocean enough to want to experience them again (perhaps especially THOSE days 😏), but most recently, we took our niece and nephew to a theme park and spent the entire day together eating junk food, riding rides, making inside jokes, and flirting gently in a way that didn't make the kids cringe to be near us. It was so much fun, and I'd love to have that day again and again and again.

Thank you for asking!

Bee is a Black artist living in California's Bay Area. She's nurturing a lifelong interest in culture, diversity, and identity by painting her favorite people and helping bring others' visions to life through commissioned art pieces. She recently made the leap to making art full-time, offering art commissions, prints, and stickers through online storefronts. Bee's primary motivation for making art is to inspire joy, creativity, and to help others feel seen.
