One thing about gendered socialization discourse I feel like people don't get is that, like, we all hear the same shit, actually. Kids grow up being told boys are supposed to be a certain way and girls are supposed to be a certain way & the only real difference is how it's applied to them specifically. Like. Children aren't raised on different planets that messaging doesn't exist in a vacuum. This is why when a lot of people first come out as trans it sort of flips a switch in their brain & now the trans girl is self conscious sitting with her knees apart and the trans boy is weird about crying and whatever. This is also how cis women can be misogynists. And so on and so forth. We all hear the same shit all the time. That's how living in a society works

Everybody has to unlearn misogynistic beliefs it came free with being raised under the patriarchy. Like as hard as people try to sex-segregate their children you're not gonna be like unaware of the other set of gender roles. I'm gonna get somebody in my notes being like "actually I was raised by a single mother with no brothers and I was sent to an all-girls school and never watched tv" or whatever but I think we can all agree that's an outlier, right
