Maple Syrup

Apologies for the absence! Please take this shamelessly Canadian x Rowaelin drabble as a gift. The only way I'm going to cope with the fact that its supposed to snow next week, and then for the next six months, is if I pretend winter is romantic. Its not. Its cold.

SYNOPSIS: Keeping warm becomes an intense activity when the winter months approach, and in the thick of it, two lovers spend a chilly day recounting childhood pleasures. WORDCOUNT: 4.3k WARNINGS: Swearing, allusion to intimacy/sex, fluff lol

A New Generation (Pt. 2)

Rating: Teen Fandom: 魔法使いの嫁 | Mahou Tsukai no Yome | The Ancient Magus Bride Relationships: Hatori Chise x Elias Ainsworth Characters: Elias Ainsworth, Hatori Chise, Chise Hatori, Silver Lady, Silkie, Ruth, Titania, Oberon, Shannon, Stella Barklem, Angelica Burley, David Burley, Althea Burley, Lindel | Lindenbaum, Merituuli Trigger Warnings: Pregnancy, Childbirth, Babies, Infants, Depression, Anxiety, Discrimination, Unplanned Pregnancy, Abandonment, References to Abuse, References to Abandonment, References to Child Murder Words: 8551

As Chise’s pregnancy progresses, Elias is consumed with worry that his child will be rejected by both fae and humans, as he had been. Chise struggles with the fear that she might abandon or harm her own children, as her parents did.

When Elias returned home from London, he sat down with Chise and had a very long, solemn conversation with her about the pregnancy, and for the first time, they talked about a future that also involved their child. Or children, if Chise was correct in her belief that there were two.

He told her about going to speak with Lindel, Simon, and Angelica and what their advice had been. Like him, Chise found Angelica’s tale the most consoling. Knowing that the artificer had felt similar apprehension about procreating helped Chise feel less isolated.

Calling Angelica and talking to her at length also did much to improve Chise’s disposition, not just about Chise’s ability to parent but also about the pregnancy itself. It didn’t cure her of her worries, but having someone to talk to who knew exactly what she was going through was a great comfort to her.

Finally managing to convince Elias to install a landline in the house had been a pretty recent accomplishment. He fought this “modern indulgence” for quite a long time, but when he finally understood that it meant she didn’t have to walk to town to use the public phone every other day, he was more open to the idea, especially since walking long distances was going to become rather difficult for her as time went on. The noise the device made was annoying, but seeing her smile when she answered it was enough to keep him from being too bothered by the sound.

The change in her mood greatly eased Elias’s mind. Watching Chise spiral into a deep, black pit of terror and depression was difficult for him to bear, especially given there was little he could on his own to improve it. As much as he wanted to help her, he had eventually come to understand that sometimes people could only find solace in others who’d had comparable experiences. This was just not his ken, so it was better left to those suited to the task.

He tried to quash his own fears for her sake, but she knew him too well to let him get away with keeping those thoughts to himself. At night, before they slept, she would talk to him; just talk, not expecting him to respond if he wasn’t in the mood to do so, and it helped him. Hearing the sudden shift in her voice from cold despair to tentative hope had done much to alleviate his woes. She encouraged him to be honest with her about what he felt, but didn’t push him to talk if he didn’t want to. More often than not, though, he would. They would lay bear their worries to each other and try to find the bright side. They were both still afraid, but they were facing that fear together.

And it helped.

A New Generation Pt. 1 (Ancient Magus’ Bride)

Rating: Mature Fandom: 魔法使いの嫁 | Mahou Tsukai no Yome | The Ancient Magus Bride Relationships: Elias Ainsworth x Hatori Chise Characters: Elias Ainsworth, Hatori Chise, Ruth, Silver Lady, Silkie, Lindel | Lindenbaum, Simon Cullum, Alice, Stella Barklem, Shannon Additional Tags: Sex, Married Sex, Chise is 25 Trigger Warnings: Pregnancy, Unplanned Pregnancy, Babies, Childbirth, Children, Depression, References to Depression, Abuse. Neglect, Anxiety, Words: 9355

Chise becomes pregnant, and both she and Elias must come to terms with their misgivings about being parents, and their own demons which convince them they are monsters. Rated mature for sex and references to child murder. Please leave feedback!

Elias sat in his regular chair in the sitting room, reading a short note Simon had given him, while Simon sat on the couch across from him, watching him tersely. Another absurd assignment from the Church, something to do with a group of satyrs taking up residence in a convent in Italy. Elias sighed.

“I’m sorry it’s such short notice,” Simon said. “I would really rather have waited until Chise returned from her trip, but my superiors are adamant that this needs immediate attention. When is she due back, anyway? She’s been gone more than a week.”

“It is difficult to be certain,” Elias said morosely. He was infinitely more aware of the passage of time when Chise was away, and he rather disliked it. “Over the last seven years, she has taken a personal interest in maintaining the dragon population. She visits the aerie often and has become a great asset to Lindel. With her help, the dragons are more prolific than they have been in many decades. She assists Lindel with the hatching of each year’s clutch of dragon eggs. Last year it only took four days, but the year before that, she was gone for nearly three weeks.”

“Don’t you usually go with her when she visits the aerie?”

“Most of the time, yes, but not always. I’m more hindrance than help in this case. The dragon eggs need delicate care and diligent supervision. I am, you might say, under qualified. Chise is much better at caring for the young ones that I am.”

“Ah,” Simon replied. “Yes, I would suppose so.” Simon smiled in a way that seemed to be reassuring. “At least you know she’ll make a good mom in the future.”

A Little Braver - 63

Here we go with part two of the wildfires chapter. I assure you it’s not as bad as you imagine. There is only a smidge of angst that then gets resolved.

Before the wildfires Aedion was positive that he had seen all sort of crazy stuff. He had been in the military and had now quite a few years of experience under his belt as a firefighter.

He had been wrong. Nothing would ever prepare him to what being in the middle of a wildfire felt.

His handcrew team had been hard at work when the fire had started jumping the lines. A rain of embers had started falling on them. It was a matter of minutes and the fire spread all around them.

The captain had started giving orders to put out the fire but it never seemed enough.

Aedion knew the risks. They could easily get trapped in that inferno. The captain hadn’t called the retreat yet and they were trying to work on the fire as much as they could. It was a race against time, one they had to try and win. If the fire reached Orynth it would be a disaster.

A Little Braver - 62

Good evening and welcome to the next instalment. This chapter was a huge challenge. Our guys are dealing with a gigantic wildfire. I have done a lot of research for this chapter and I hope I did it justice. It will continue in the next one, This might feel a bit like a filler and it kinda sets the scene for the next one which is the one containing more action and story development.

I hope you will enjoy it.

It was the beginning of august and Orynth had been enveloped by a heatwave that was unheard of for the city and all of Terrasen. Temperatures had reached 35C, something that had never happened. The region was not equipped to deal with the heat. People were not used to it. Shops and offices did not have air conditioning, something that the citizens never had a need for. Their summers were usually brief with only a day or two reaching 25C. This was a lot.

The extreme heat was affecting all of Erilea. Ilium had recorder temperatures well over 40C, the southern continent was boiling too and so every other area. The other side effect was that it hadn’t rained in a month. Another weird occurrence for Terrasen. The green expanses of land had started to turn yellow due to lack of water. The situation had raised the concerns of the Forest Services, placing the whole region under high alert for wildfires. A scary prospect, considering that the northern part of Orynth skirted the forest and a wildfire could cause serious damage to the city too.

A Little Braver - 54

Here we go with another chapter. Fen is graduating!!! Aelin is fussing and we have a nice Lorcan cameo <3

Hope you will enjoy it… 21 to go… I am already crying…

Lorcan had finally been allowed some downtime too and as soon he was free he climbed on the flight deck and then up to vulture’s row. They were in the middle of the sea. Below him the flight deck was alive and loud and he studied attentively the jets landing and taking off and a part of him missed the thrill of flying.

The wind had picked up and it blew his long dark-hair around. Leaning against the rail he took a deep inhale of the fresh sea breeze and relaxed for those few miracle minutes.

The CIC was tucked deep in the belly of the ship and it had no windows or natural air or light. He needed to be out in the open. To bee the buzz of flight operation for real and not just from a screen. Hellas, he even missed the constant smell of kerosene.

I Don’t Want To Wait, sixty-five

rowaelin high school bff au masterlist

AN: Nearly 8k words of Rowan’s Birthday Goodness for y’all. We’re going to catch up to the current timeline soon, I hope lol. Writing about winter is zero fun. Spring semester, here we come. Can’t wait to hear what y’all think. Thank you for still being on this ride. About 15 chapters left of this saga. I hope you enjoy it!!!!

Based on the prompts:

  • “I just want to get away from here.” // “I know.”
  • “Close your eyes.”//“Why?”//“Just close them.”
  • Rowan and Lorcan doing karaoke to ‘I Want It That Way’ by the Backstreet Boys

Aelin was having a bit of a week. In the days that followed New Year’s, Rowan was in a mood. She wasn’t exactly sure what to name this mood other than, well, clingy. He’d spent every waking second with one of his arms wrapped around Aelin, keeping her close and refusing to let her go anywhere or do anything without him. Which, on a normal week she would have been reveling in. But not this week.

Of course, the one week she needed just a modicum of space, he’d decided to glom onto her so hard she could barely so much as pee without him looking over his shoulder. Which… was making planning his eighteenth surprise birthday party… exceedingly difficult. In fact, she’d had to continuously excuse herself to go to the bathroom so she could arrange the surprise shindig with Maeve, who had been thrilled to co-host and was constantly blowing up Aelin’s phone with details.

And of course, each time Aelin’s phone buzzed and she excused herself to pee, Rowan squeezed her a little tighter and his frown deepened. She wanted to tell him so badly that he was about to be treated to a night of delicious treats and a long list of friends who wanted to celebrate with him, but she was determined to make this party perfect, and that included seeing the look of surprise on his face when they stepped into Maeve’s on Friday night.

Are you all ready for the Rowaelin reunion? Expect a lot of fluff and a fussy Aelin and Sellene. And some comedy from our bird boy. There is a short spell of fluffy chapters coming… I hope you will love them

“Fireheart?”

“Rowan…”

He was there and alive. His pine green eyes staring at her. AElin could not move, too afraid that any movement might dispel the imagine in front of her. Rowan was there. Her heart raced in her chest while she kept repeating to her self that she was not dreaming.

Aelin stood on the threshold of his room, staring at the man in the bed.

“Aelin?”

His voice reached her and she finally believed. He smiled and a sob broke from her mouth.

Same Time Thursday - Part 26

——————————————————————————————-

CW: mentions of abuse, mentions of creepy behavior, lots of cursing

~5k words

——————————————————————————————-

By the next day, Aelin was able to eat. Not very much relative to how hungry she was, but her stomach couldn’t handle much food at once. But it was better than nothing.

Rowan had been by her side the whole time, but she’d sent Elia to go stay with Elide and Lorcan at a hotel for the next night, not wanting to keep her at the hospital for that long. She could tell Rowan had been conflicted over the separation, but in the end, Elia had people he trusted with her. Aelin had no one.

So here he was.

The sun was streaming in gently for the early morning, and Aelin had convinced the nurses to let her leave the hospital room, at least for a little bit. Her thigh was still so fragile she couldn’t really walk, not even with crutches yet, but she was allowed to get into a wheelchair, and Rowan was pushing her around the hallways, just giving her a bit of new scenery.

I hope you will enjoy this chapter :)

Rowan slowly awoke and for a brief instant he thought he was home. For a fleeting moment he was ready to turn his head and see a mane of blonde hair splayed on his chest, but as he rose to full consciousness and his body protested in pain he remembered where he was. He turned his head and saw Mark asleep under thick wool blankets at his side. Not far from them two fires were still going and Rowan knew that his friend had kept them going. Luckily they were not too far from the forest and they had an ample supply of wood.

With his hand he peeked under the cut trouser leg and assessed the status of his knee. It looked even worse and the bruise had turned a very angry blue. At the touch it was hot and it hurt like hell. His left leg pained him but it did not look as horrible as the other one.

Same Time Thursday - part 25

————————————————-

two stt updates in one night! this is not usual haha, and i was not expecting to get this done tonight, but here it is!

CW: general angst, injury, car crashes, death, blood, brief allusions to sexual assault, panic attacks

————————————————

Her mouth was dry, that’s the first thing she felt. It was so dry she could barely swallow, not that she could really move her mouth anyway. Every muscle in her body felt weak; she didn’t even think she could move a single finger, let alone a whole part of her body.

With that thought, she tried to, resulting in a twitch of her right pointer finger.

And Aelin wanted to blink, but her eyelids felt too heavy, yet she still tried, only accomplishing another twitch. It was making her feel claustrophobic, the inability to move. Was she dead? Was she still in the car? Had Hellas brought her back just for her to die again?

A small whimper escaped her, her nose scrunching. She managed to tug her hand a little bit more, but it got caught in something connected to it, keeping her hand stuck where it was. Her breath caught.

It Takes Two - Happy Birthday

~ AELIN WEEK ~

DAT THREE: Aelin’s birthday.

I am never on time with birthday, Aelin’s was no exception. But, guess what? They’re back! I couldn’t resist bringing these guys back for Aelin week. It’s cute and very sweet. High fluff warning ahead.

As always, more Aelin week goodness over at @rowaelinscourt

~~~~~
Aelin came through the door, weary from her day at work. Saturdays were always the busiest day and she couldn’t leave Evangeline to fend for herself. Lysandra had offered to come in for the day, even though it was her turn on maternity leave, her and Aedion’s son Ruben was just about a month and running his parents ragged as young babies were prone to do. Hell, Elsie was just over six months old now and Aelin still felt like she had been hit with a truck most mornings when she woke up. She had appreciated the gesture from her future in-law but she had politely declined, even if it was Aelin’s birthday.
I know we are in the middle of Aelin’s weeks but given how I let ch 50, it’s best if i put you out of your misery
CW: panic attacks.
Also see the notes at the end of the chapter
“There has been an accident.”
The world around Aelin stopped. She had so many question but could not utter a word. Her heart beating madly in her chest and her hands shaking.
He and his colleague captain Sadiq were out for an exercise. We lost contact with them two hours ago.”
Two hours. He had been in an accident for two hours and only just now phoned her? She felt tears starting to form as she listened to the man on the other end.
We lost radio contact when they were flying near the Ferian gap. We have teams of SAR out already but for now they have been declared MIA.”
“But you are looking for them,” she managed,, forcing herself to feel a bit of hope.
Yes ma’am. The captain is a very skilled pilot. They might have landed safely but something happened to their GPS. I will keep you updated.”
A Little Braver - 50
Here we go with a new chapter…
The dreaded Monday had arrived and Aelin was now back in Terrasen in a taxi to head to east station.
Rowan hadn’t been able to drive her to the airport since her flight was when he was meant to be in class already, so they had said goodbye at the hotel and her heart broke a little. The week had been perfect and leaving him was getting harder, but as Rowan kept telling her, it was almost over. They had made it. While in the car she looked back at his time away and realised that somehow it had brought them closer. With the passing of days and weeks she had started to realise the depth of her feelings for him. She thought about the joke about bird Rowan and being at their wedding and realised that she wanted that future with him. She craved it, and a family. And she had a feeling Rowan was on the same page.
