Disclaimers:

  1. I will block you if you don't have any posts on your blog.
  2. When I say I hate a trope, it doesn't mean I think it should be banned. I am against banning content. I am just very critical of it and personally hate it and/or avoid it. Criticism does not equal harassment or censorship.
  3. I am not Norse pagan. I am an Atheist.
  4. I try to keep the myths separate from Marvel properties, and other media by using the tags mentioned above.
  5. I do not condone harassment based on fictional media.
  6. My MCU OTP is Valki (Valkyrie/Loki). I am neutral/indifferent to pretty much other ship. I am bound to defend those ships if I see too much wank because I am a huge contrarian. I think the only Loki-related ship I dislike is Frostiron because I can't stand Tony Stark. I try and don't want to be moralistic about it though.
  7. I hate purity culture, right-wingers, and "radfem" and TERF rhetoric. Thought crimes are not a thing. And there's nothing liberating about bio-essentialism.

There's also the Hoopla app, based on your local library.

How very depressing that Neil Gaiman had trended not even a tiny bit for demonstrating what a fucking horrific person he is.

As a reminder, he's suing Caroline Wallner, one of his accusers, for breaking her NDA. Not for libel. He's saying she shouldn't have told anyone about it, not that she lied.

He doesn't need the money. He's risking the Streisand effect. He is punishing Caroline, he's trying to intimidate other victims who have signed NDAs to scare them into continued silence.

He is no friend to women, to the LGBTQIA+ community, to anyone quite frankly unless he thinks they are of value to him.

Share the story. Put it on Facebook and bluesky and whatever else you're on. Make it clear what a horrifying person he is. Tell your friends. He's paying Edendale a fortune to try and cover this up. Make this hard for him. Make it cost him money.

Give it up for the people just realizing they're queer right now, actually. This is a really scary time to be queer, i imagine even scarier to be coming to terms with your identity and/or trying to figure yourself out. You're doing amazing and i think you're super super brave.

I reblogged a post earlier about how Marvel!Loki is so inaccurate to the myths, and it brought up a constant use of "oaf" in regards to Thor. But I think that's more of a fandom thing? According to the movie transcripts, he only uses that word ONCE during the throne room confrontation with Odin. It's one of those words fandom seems to have Loki throwing around (and because fandom likes making the Brodinsons more into opposites than they really are).

thinking about in Avengers 1 when Fury practically outright says he's gonna torture the shit out of Loki to get the information he needs and Thor doesn't even fucking care. Genuinely messed up.

I personally interpreted that as him bluffing to avoid that happening. It's been a while since I've seen that scene though.

I do think he's a horrible brother in TR though and have trouble believing he ever cared for Loki in that movie.

So anyways with the rapid rise of fascism I feel it’s a good time to point out that it’s perfectly legal to follow unjust orders slowly, badly, or inefficiently

Breaking the law, even an unjust law, has consequences that not all can afford. But also a very large number of us are also very stupid, or very confused, or very lazy, and so it’s not unreasonable that someone at the bottom of the chain of command might make a typo, or misplace some paperwork, or leave a Friday afternoon email for Monday morning.

When something goes wrong, or an operation slows down, because a low-level worker somewhere sent a package to the wrong address or left someone on hold for an hour or didn’t fill out a particular form correctly- Do you immediately assume malicious intent? Or do you usually just brush it off as some underpaid idiot being bad at their job?

You also gotta not brag about it. Keep your political opinions on the down low. Be noncommittal or ignorant or undecided. Say things like “I’ve never heard of that”, “where did you hear that?” or “that’s interesting, I heard a conflicting story from here, how weird”. Never be outwardly confidant of what you know. When there is a silence, don’t fill it- leave the space and let the other fill it for you. That’s how you get information, that’s how you find sources, that’s how you reduce the value of anything others get out of you.

Virtue signalling by wearing pins and ribbons and loudly declaring your place is not safe in some environments. It will place scrutiny on you and everything you touch. Nobody believes the guy who says “fuck my boss and everything he stands for” scratches the boss’s car by accident, even if it is an accident.

If you want to slow the march of a tank, filling the path with mud is going do more than laying down in front of it.

Don't let your pride allow you to be baited.

Not everyone on the internet needs to know you're doing more than they are.

The most Loki-like thing about me is that I genuinely don't care for Balder.

Check Gesta Dannorum Balderus. Then you're bound to be like "omg go Hodr go"

That's a cool interesting take I'd enjoy ^_^

I would probably like more nuanced/complex interpretations in general so, I guess I wouldn't always hate him. I dislike most of his interpretations though.

There was this book I disliked and found boring that I hardly remember anymore, but it was unusual in that Balder was this eldritch happiness entity. And his influence caused the rest of the world and the gods to neglect themselves to the point of dying because they'd rather bask in his presence. Loki could tell something was off and killed him. (It had that framing of Loki as reversing attempts to avoid nature (e.g. death)).
