Can you please share a hair tutorial I LOVE how you draw hair /nf

I’m sorry it took so long to answer I consistently forgot to answer this 😭 but yeah:

this is the way I draw the basic “head shape.” People are unique; so head shapes and hairlines will vary with each person you draw, but I can tell you how I draw the basics.

this is how I draw a head ^ I like to make my hairline start to “tilt” I guess where the brow line is. Basically, where the eyebrows are, that’s where my hairline curves inward (which varies) depending on the size and shape of the forehead like below.

Along with this, I usually section out the head and establish a hair part. Hair isn’t just one big block, but I have what a lot of people would call an “animation friendly” artstyle; very simplistic and easy to draw, so my hair tends to be very simplistic in nature. This is an example below of how I make sure my hair looks like it has volume on top of the head.

This is applicable to almost any and all hair types and styles, but for example, afros are a bit different. Because you can’t really establish a hair part because it isn’t visible, I draw big, blocky shapes around the head and add the defined curls depending on which types I choose within the shapes coming off from the head afterwards

Another important thing to remember is that hair has weight, and is affected by its surroundings. If it’s windy, it’s good to imagine in which direction the hair is going to be blowing and then draw off the head in that direction to give it life.

another good thing is to remember that you need to compensate for hair that grows behind your ears, especially if you’re drawing a front facing or 3/4 view head

anyways that’s all I’ve got for now. I might add onto this later. If you’re still around I hope this helps anon!
