Please credit your Conversions
I've noticed a bit of a trend lately on converted/conversions objects not getting credited?
For example, a download would say "[insert objects'name here] - conversions", but the description never mentioning where it's from?
I get that often it could be from various of places, but there are a few reasons you may want to mention it anyway:
- If it's a game, it will promote the game you converted it from. People often would google for said game and it may get them to play it. This is especially nice for indie-games as those developers often already struggle to make profits and keep their dream jobs.
- Some people are pretty strong in the “copyrighting” game. So, typically, they'd want to know where it comes from, to then figure out if they want it in their games or not.
- If it's a sims creator you converted it from, it would mostly come across as a nice "thank you" nod!
Without them, you wouldn't have been able to convert it. PLUS! Anyone who plays multiple sims games can then also download that version. 😉
- The same counts for places like turbosquid.com, Sketchfab.com or any free assets websites (even Deviantart has it!). That way, someone can even use it for their own hobbies (think: 3D printing, making 3D scenes, etc), but let's be honest, the creator itself would love to see it being used too.
We sometimes forget that knowing the source of a conversion, can actually indirectly help many people! If not that, it can make their day. ♥
