Today’s “fishtory” lesson for mermaydg2023: Before Ariel, there was Madison. Disney’s The Little Mermaid debuted in 1989, while Splash dropped in 1984. Starring Tom Hanks, Daryl Hannah, John Candy, and Eugene Levy, Splash focuses on the story of a man who is convinced he can never fall in love, until he’s rescued from a boating accident by a mermaid. But their relationship is put to the test when the world discovers her secret.
Anyone else seen that movie? I was born three years after it was released, but since I’d been introduced to The Little Mermaid and absolutely loved it, my parents showed me Splash and I was equally enamored with it. :D This ends today’s “fishtory” lesson!
