I'm not like Mad at anyone who does this and I'm obviously not in charge of how anyone else tags shit on their own blogs, whatever, but it's always bummed me out when my sex Ed posts get reblogged and tagged with 18+, minors dni, etc. personally I actually very much want teenagers to learn about their bodies and safer sex but I guess I'm just the guy who wrote the thing.

by and large I am not an angry man but once I watched a fellow sex educator present to a room full of college students and, upon being gently challenged by one of the students who objected to them describing sex as something that happens between adults, said with very palpable disdain "I don't want to talk about kids fucking." and I was so angry about it that I made myself nauseous.

not just teens, either. every couple years I give up my Sundays for a few months to teach sex ed to 4th-6th graders, unpaid. and I don't do it because it's always fun or easy or great for my health, I do it because those are human people with changing bodies and feelings who deserve to have someone who gives a shit take the time to talk honestly with them so that they might make less painful mistakes later.

ah, this has gotten notes. now we begin a game of Is Someone Going To Call Me A Pedophile For This.

and the ironic thing is that teaching comprehensive sex ed as young as possible (to an age appropriate extent of course) is like literally the best way to keep kids safe bc it allows them to know if what’s happening to them is wrong. especially since the most likely abuser is a parent. who’s obviously not going to teach them that they deserve bodily autonomy. it sounds icky but teaching kids about sex is what lets them know if they’re being raped, and unfortunately a scarily high amount of kids are preyed upon.

one of my friends is a cishet woman who struggles with my pronouns and understanding nonbinary people but she will make fun of desantis with me and today she showed me a photo of helium on the periodic table(He) and said “like your pronouns!” and we both fucking lost it. she still sometimes uses my deadname on accident but we’ve been friends since we were 7 and i only came out to her a year or so ago. our enby friend “some guy called me a woman” really upset and my friend went “does he know he’s just wrong???”. she does not understand really hrt or srs but she is on my side. i dont think we should stop there but fuck man, why are you guys so harsh on people for not knowing everything and not being perfect

Someone has said this better than me, but a guy from a small town who replies “I’ve never really understood transsexuals but I think everybody should be able to do whatever the hell they want with their body without the government gettin’ involved” has your back way more than any center-left person who says shit like “I support people who are LGBTQ+ I just don’t think we should be talking about that kind of thing around children”

I’d rather be called a tranny by someone relatively ignorant about the situation but who’s advocating for my right to identify how I want and do what I want with my own body than be lumped in with “women and nonbinary people” by purported “leftist allies”.

if you have a solid, timely connection that isn't blinking in and out right now, take a minute to really live in the moment. for me. because mine is currently dogshit

i once lost internet at home for a month. that's completely changed my stance on physical media and downloads. people are too reliant on streaming. you need DVDs and CDs and mp3s and books and magazines and mkvs and whatever else. you will not always have perfect access to the internet. it's a good idea to make sure that doesn't leave you without anything
