HELP A DISABLED QUEER DUDE GET OUT OF HIS LIVING SITUATION

hi! i'm plum- a lot of you probably know me as cosmo though! i've been planning to move out with some long-time friends for just over a year now, but the date has been repeatedly pushed back for a few family reasons, among other things.

my mother, who i am dependent upon for transportation until i move, has stated that next month she is going to be charging me for basic essentials as a "trial run" for existing in the "real world," conveniently one month before i was set to move out in june. i already pay a share of rent and utilities, but now she is going to start charging me for food and transportation- telling me that i'll need to uber to the bank to get cash in order to pay for the state-sponsored public transit system i qualify for through my psychiatric care. it's been hard for me to save for numerous reasons, and just as i've been able to finally get money in my account, our food insecurity and the new restrictions mom is putting on me are going to result in me being stuck here for even longer. she's been manipulative and asserted that i shouldn't move out for a while, constantly moving the goalposts and doing things to sabotage me, and while i have my own hangups about calling her an abusive person, this is just textbook financial abuse. i cannot live in this household anymore, and i'm sick of being manipulated and strongarmed into staying in a housing situation that isn't good for me.

once i'm living with my friends, i'll have a financial cushion and space to be able to get a job to help pay my share in addition to my social security benefits, but right now, i need help. i need to rapidly accumulate as much savings as i can to cover things like my phone bill, any changes i'll need to make to my ID, and a bit extra to help cover my share of groceries while i wrangle the SSA into getting my new address (and a new bank account) on file. i don't have a solid goal other than a vague "over one hundred dollars", so anything helps me here, no matter how small.

It wasn't just in the US that black people started the EMT services. In Britain, the Harrow and Wealdston train crash in 1952 was the worst peacetime rail disaster in UK history(112 dead, 340 wounded). A United States Air Force medical unit was among the first responders, and while most ambulances at the time(including this incident) just picked up anyone injured and rushed them to the hospital, the USAF people recognized that things were so bad this should be handled like battlefield medicine, treating and triaging on-site. 7 doctors and, crucially, 1 nurse, Abbie Sweetwine made up the USAF medical unit.

While ambulances were rushing off with "walking wounded" who had made it out of the accident first, the more seriously injured were still being dragged from the wreckage. The doctors who had rushed over with whatever they happened to grab treated those on-site. Meanwhile, Lt. Sweetwine handled triage and recorded what treatments had been performed by writing on the patients with lipstick and directed the returning ambulances which patients to take back to hospitals next. This was crucial for saving lives, and when the various UK organizations were figuring out how to make sure this sort of disaster didn't happen again, the role of ambulances as actual medical providers rather than as a fancy taxi service was one of the big realizations. It wasn't a wholly new concept, but news articles and pictures showing doctors on-site, crucially with Abbie Sweetwine following up with patients and covering basic care, gave a solid basis that the NHS could model it's Paramedic system after.

And Abbie Sweetwine was black. This was almost unheard of for the time, a black woman serving with the USAF, and the impact of a black woman being lauded for heroism throughout the UK on your average Joes cannot be overstated. She basically just did her job, continued doing it for the next few decades, and retired to her home state of Florida with some unusual medals on her wall, but she also changed a country and that's not something most people can say.

as a pharmacy technician i can share with you some websites that give you those "coupons" for your meds!

goodrx is the most well known one, but if i'm trying to find the cheapest price for a patient i compare it to scriptcycle, and use whichever is offering the best price. you just type in the medication (PLEASE make sure you're getting the right drug, dosage, and quantity) and your zip code and they will spit out some offers for you

some pharmacies may have their own discount card to compare to as well!

if you are getting a name brand medication, you can also look at the manufacturer's website to see if they offer any evouchers for you to use too

We are a family of ten trying to survive in northern Gaza. We have a rent of $700 that we won’t be able to pay without help, and we will be at the mercy of the drones and the tanks if we have to leave, on top of having to leave behind all of our belongings. The only food we have left is a bag of flour infested with maggots, everything at the market has become insanely expensive.

My sister Soso is only four years old, what kind of life is this for her? My mother and I have been sick and thankfully we finally got the help of a doctor, but that means we had to pay for the medicine as well. The little money we have left isn’t enough to buy anything in the north.

If you live in the USA and you're pleading for donations to pay your rent, bills, or get food then dial 211! Please dial 211 before the last minute!

It's a toll free service with people who will help you find programs in your community to pay those bills, find food, and find housing! They will give you numbers to call so you can get help.

It is not 100% foolproof. Their job is to direct you to a program they believe will help your current issue, but it's still a step up from praying random strangers online will give you enough cash before a deadline! The added benefit of these community programs, which get funded by the local government most of the time, is if there are more people using them then they can get more money to help more people.

You're not taking resources from other people if you use your community services. Your taxes pay for them. Use them.

Dial 211 first to see if they can help, and if for some reason they can't, then make your donation posts!

Hi I work for my state's 211 service. It really breaks my heart how many people only know to call us at the last minute. 211's can provide a whole wealth of resources to use before things ever get to a cut off utility, eviction, or homelessness!

I can't speak for all 211's but most should also have a website detailing all the agencies in their database. if you don't like phone calls, this can be something to reference instead.

If you don't have health insurance but you need to see a doctor, reference 211! We list clinics that provide free or discounted general care, vision, and dental services to low income households and people without insurance! Many hospitals also have financial aid policies that can severely reduce your bill if you had an expensive procedure!

If you're stuck in a dead end job or need educational resources reference 211! There are a lot of programs focused on providing basic adult education as well as trade skills or other high demand fields! State governments are generally more interested in funneling people into work than providing benefits, but you can still use this to your advantage especially if you have some form of disability but are still able to work. That includes if you're neurodiverse or have mental health issues! Most of these programs are extremely underutilized.

If you believe you qualify for public benefits but the bureaucracy of the process is in your way, reference 211! There are agencies specifically geared towards helping people obtain the benefits they qualify for- for free!

I had no idea what 211 was before working for it but I wish I had. I've learned so much about what resources are actually available to the community even in a ho hum area of the country like my state. I've saved my partner literally thousands of dollars just from the medical resources I've gathered.

Not enough young people know about or utilize these services but they are there for you!

This isn't an intended use of 211, but I like to reference the agency listings when I look for jobs. Many of the agencies listed are non-profits which, while they certainly are not perfect, generally have lower barriers of entry to decent paying jobs with benefits. The work environments tend to be much kinder and at least pretend to be forward thinking. You're more likely to find jobs without as many people applying as well, especially if they're only advertising their positions through their own website.

This man is innocent, his appearance and build doesn’t match that of the killers, the only “motive” he had was a convenient written confession showing that he supposedly viewed healthcare companies as “parasitic” and too expensive (which does somewhat contradict the actual killers actions) he had said note and the murder weapon conveniently on him while living his ordinary life, the killer held the gun in his right hand while Luigi is left-handed, Luigi and the Killer were potentially seen simultaneously, they wore slightly different coats.

The NYPD KNOW these are different people, they know the evidence is lacking, this isn’t a mistaken identity, it’s framing, they are trying to make themself appear to still be control by catching this man, humiliating him, killing him, when they know full well that the person they are prosecuting ISNT EVEN THE RIGHT GUY!
