My son Ahmed is a heart patient and has holes in his heart. New tests were conducted on him, which showed that he was suffering from a problem with his eyes, and that there was damage to the nerves in his eyes as a result of his admission to the nursery and his exposure to oxygen. We need your help. The situation is very difficult. You are our last hope. Food, clothes, milk, rent, everything has become very expensive. My son Ahmed needs heart surgery and eye surgery. Save my son so he can complete his treatment and undergo the operation. a whole bunch of gazan mutual aid projects and nonprofits. if the decision of which individual fundraiser to give to feels too daunting, or if you just want to help as many people as possible in one go, these are great initiatives to support.
- care for gaza - focuses on providing food and essential supplies. donate here or here.
- connecting humanity - securing internet access via donations of virtual sim cards (esims). if you can't afford a whole plan yourself, crips for esims is a communal pool that will use your donation to purchase and maintain esims
- gaza soup kitchen - provides food, medical care, and classes for children. also has a gofundme
- glia gaza medical support initiative - provides medical care through field clinics and tents at hospitals. donations can also be sent through their website.
- ele elna elak - provides clean water, food, clothing, and shelter. they also have a gofundme
- life for gaza - raising money for the gaza municipality to repair water and waste management infrastructure
- taawon - partners with local civil organizations to provide food, water, medical care, shelter, and basic supplies
- the sameer project - running various initiatives providing tents, medical care, and necessities. they have their own encampment project focused on sheltering families with children, sick and disabled members, or members in need of perinatal care

While it was a longshot, I do appreciate that Gimli did try chopping the Ring up with an axe first. It was worth a shot, and they'd have all felt like bloody idiots if they took the Ring all the way to Mordor only to find out it could have been chopped up by an axe all along.

Happy international Romani Day! This year with the ongoing genocide against Palestinians i would like to draw attention to the Dom people in Palestine. The Dom and Roma people are not the same as the groups left India at different times and using different routes but they share similar origins and face similar struggles and oppression. There are estimated 2.2 million Dom people in the Middle East and North Africa. The Palestinian Dom people live in West Bank, Gaza and occupied Jerusalem. The biggest Dom community is in Gaza — around 12,000-15,000 people were living there when the war started, but nobody knows how many of them are still alive.
The Domari Society is a non-profit organization based in Jerusalem aiming to improve the conditions of the Dom people, founded by Amoun Sleem who's interviewed in the recent article linked above. The Domari Society is unique for being founded and organized by the Dom community itself and has done incredible work such as providing education for children and women and preserving the endangered Domari language. The organization relies on donations to fund its activities and i recommend donating to them if you want to support the Palestinian Dom people in this particularly difficult time. Just raising awareness about the Dom and their situation is important too even if you can't donate

I think one of my favourite Types of Guy on this site are people who have the name of a character from a piece of popular media as their handle – not even a variant or misspelling, they managed to snag the name straight up – and a picture of that character for an avatar, but they never post about the media that character is from. Just fucking Vriska Serket rolling up in your notes with opinions about cheese.
