Thorin’s getting hitched and that means even Thranduil gets a heads up about the big event. But what is this? Two ravens have messages for the Mirkwood King? Thranduil doesn’t have enough wine for this nonsense.
This part of the series took me five-ever to write and it’s the biggest part, by far.
No finished art update today because I prioritized finishing this fic but here’s a preview of Thursday’s pic post which will be inked and coloured!
Why yes! It IS Vampire Bilbo with his little familiar, Bat Frodo! XD They are off to a Halloween party! They’re gonna bob for apples and eat cakes and tell spoooky stories about haunted turnips!

That’s Roac trying to eat a strip of streaky bacon on King Bard’s sofa. Have you ever tried to pull a piece off of a strip of raw streaky bacon? It’s like an elastic band made out of meat!
I had a really hard time drawing the raven in proportion to the sofa. (Is that a sofa for ants?) I mean, ravens are already two feet tall and the Ravenhill ravens are supposed to be bigger than that? He looks far too big. I think if I ink this, I’ll have to scale Roac down about 15% to make him fit the sofa better.
The going is slow. XD I think I might actually not be able to make a post today! For the first time since… March? =\ But here is a little peek at the literary genius I am slaving over:
“Troc saw something shiny!” She hopped excitedly then made a disgusted noise in the back of her throat. “Guuccckkkgsshhhh Orcksh dump lotsa dead gobbos off mountain. NOBODY wanna eat dead gobbo! Not even gobbo eyeballs good for eats!”
“Mm yes, I imagine that is so,” Elrond murmured.

Okay, but, Troc following little Frodo around Erebor. Both to tattle on him and to keep him out of trouble… only they end up getting into trouble together nine times out of ten. XD
Elrond the Herald. Inspired by this post! Which I think someone had reblogged with a tag saying they could see Elrond wearing it. (IF THAT WAS YOU WHO REBLOGGED IT PLEASE HIT ME UP WITH THE LINK TO YOUR POST PLEASE! SO I CAN GIVE YOU CREDIT!)
Anyhow, Elrond when he was herald for Gil-galad! Man, those second age fashions sure were something, huh?
Painting is so hard, especially without line art! I used Photoshop and a couple of Kyle’s brushes: Oil detail brush 30px and the Oil lush brushes mostly. My second digital painting of 2018 and, really, ever. XD The only reference I used was the headless mannequin and puzzling over photos of Elrond’s head. There’s no way I could paint Hugh’s face accurately so I tried to just use some of the more defining features and hand-wave the rest.

How you doin’? More for that hockey AU verse I’ve been doodling in! Before Thranduil played hockey, his father made him take up the traditionally elven sport of figure skating. (It had been all the rage in Valinor! Hockey is strictly a Middle Earth game. Probably started by the Noldor.)
Maedhros and Maglor, trying to raise Elrond and Elros ‘correctly’ by elven standards had enrolled the twins in figure skating. If Fëanor had been alive, he would’ve benched both of their butts for not pushing the boys into hockey but, by that time, Maedhros and Maglor were sick to death of their father’s #hockeylife and his obsession with winning back the Simaril Cup the boys were spared. (At least, until Elros saw his first hockey game and begged them for months until they finally relented and let them play.)
Anyhow, Elros probably wanted out of figure skating because Elrond kept flirting outrageously with Thranduil, SILVER KING OF ICE, who at the time was an arrogant (sekritly shy af), enigmatic prince with an overbearing parent’s expectations to live up to off the ice and a ticking time bomb of unrealized eros on the ice!
Elrond always had liked puzzles. >:D
Like I needed an excuse or a backstory to draw elves ice dancing?!
Drawn with a regular HB pencil on scrap copy paper. Such ignoble materials to draw immortal future lords but, hey, I feel Elrond at least would appreciate the humbleness?
