Personal Imagine for Jessica (Again, another Jessica :D)

Jackson looked angry, sad, confused and everything at once and you didn’t really know what to say. Mostly, when he was in such a mood, everything was bad or even worse and it would just end in a fight that you never wanted to have. You knew why he was angry. Jackson had always been the best. The best in everything. In Maths, in Chemistry, in Music, in Literature, in English, in Sports, in everything. When the grades were read out loud, Jackson was always the one with the A+, when the team was playing a game, Jackson was always the one who got voted player of the match, when parts had to be casted for the new play, Jackson was always the one getting the main role. But Jackson wasn’t the best anymore, not in everything, not in Lacrosse. Today Scott had been better, way better, a lot better, better in everything and Jackson was angry about it. You knew it would be useless to tell him that you can’t be the best always, that it’s okay to be second-best, that he was still better than a lot of other people out there, that he was still as amazing as always. Jackson wouldn’t believe you, because Jackson had always been the best, had never been second best, didn’t even know what second-best meant. For Jackson there was only one result, one spot, one grade, one position that counted: the best one. “I really don’t understand how he did that…” Jackson stuttered, his cheeks red, his hands almost hurting themselves while forming fists. “McCall has never been good in Lacrosse! He was nothing! Nothing!” He raised his voice and you stared at him, debating if you would press a hand against his back or would leave him alone for a while. “He must be on steroids or something like that.” He frowned his eyebrows and you bit your lip, knowing where this conversation with himself would lead to. “Whatever it is, I need it too. I need it to be the best again. If I have what he has, we’re even again.” He sat down next to you and you saw that he was determined to find out what had made Scott into the best Lacrosse-player, he was determined to get it himself, he was determined to become the best again, whatever it might take. “What if it’s dangerous?” You whispered softly and shrugged your shoulders. You didn’t need Jackson to be the best in everything, you were fine with Jackson being second-best, you would even be fine with Jackson being the worst, but no matter how often you’d tell him, he’d never believe you. “Jessica, McCall survived, I will too.” The look on his face said everything and you sighed. “You know you don’t have to do this for me, don’t you?” You stared at him, pressing your hands on his cheeks, trying to make sure that he knew you loved him, even when he was second-best. “You deserve only the best.” His hands grabbed your shoulders and he pressed his lips harder than usually on yours. “I’ll give you the best. Only the best.”
