Below are some pictures I took last weekend while we visited the sleepy town of Kep, Cambodia. Kep is on the Gulf of Thailand and is known as a place to go and enjoy seafood and get away from the noise and business of Phnom Penh.
We’re not huge fans of seafood (even though we lived on the Oregon coast for 15 years!), but getting away from the city is a “must” now and then. Yesterday I needed to run a couple of errands while Pam was having her Khmer lesson. It wasn’t hot out & I wasn’t going far, but when I put my shoes on and picked up my helmet, I found myself not even wanting to leave the house.
There was nothing scary “out there” — no danger (other than the traffic), no embarrassing situations, no getting out of my depth in language usage — it was just that the strangeness and business of it all sometimes overwhelms you for a bit.
But, I left and did my errands anyway, and felt fine. So, here are some pictures from the area around Kep. It’s where we sometimes go to relax.
