I have been dropping little hints at my parents about being trans, like when they say put a shirt on your not a boy I will say I am a boy. Or I would say when I'm 18 I'll be getting my breast and uterus removed. Just dropping hints, but this seems to just fly over there head and I'm scared to just flat out say it, so you know any other ways I can hint at it.

Kii says:

Don’t hint at it. People (espcially cis/straight people) who currently don’t think you’re trans probably won’t understand the hints, which is why they haven’t been responding the way you want. Be direct with what you want them to know.

Hinting at it could cause the following scenarios:

  • They remain completely oblivious to what you’re trying to communicate.
  • They know you’re hinting at something, but can’t figure out what or guess incorrectly.
  • If they do guess correctly, they may push you to come out when it’s not a good time for you.
  • If they do guess correctly, they may assume they already know everything and not let you explain details.
  • If they do guess correctly, they may not know how to bring it up and you won’t know that they already know.
