Memphis music is as diverse as Memphis itself, taking its roots from all parts of America. Memphis is famous for rock, rockabilly, blues, R&B and soul music. Very few people have ever been able to bridge this wide gap of American music, but Chips Moman was one of them. He played an important part in the music recorded at both American Sound Studio and Stax Studio–working with some of the greatest names in American music history. He passed away yesterday, but his influence in creating some of the most legendary music in Memphis history still lives on and will not be forgotten.
