“Cas, have you seen the–?” You came around the corner and he looked over at you from his place in front of the basin. “…What are you doing?”

He swallowed the big glob of toothpaste he had just squeezed into his mouth and you cringed. “What…?” he asked, looking a little abashed, sure that he had done something wrong.

“Okay,” you said, taking the tube of toothpaste from him. “We don’t eat this. You just put a little bit of it on your toothbrush and then you use that, okay?”

He looked a little ashamed. “Oh… I see.”

You couldn’t help but give him a tight-lipped smile, amused by how little he truly knew about being human. “And just to be clear, this isn’t for drinking either,” you added, pointing to the bottle of mouthwash.

“I–I knew that,” he said, nodding at you.

You laughed and shook your head. “Of course you did.”
