It was weird.
Gabriel couldn’t remember the last time he had truly felt fear. For so long he had simply amused himself; filling his life up with empty things and empty people–patches for the holes he liked to pretend didn’t exist.
But then there was her. And things began to matter again. He began to actually give a damn about himself, and her, and the world they shared together.
And then there was Lucifer. And the apocalypse.
And he knew that he might fail. He might die. He probably would… and all he could think about, instead of selfish concern, was that she would never truly know just how much he gave a damn. So he vowed to himself that he would make it out alive, just so he could say all the things he should have said sooner.
