Infinite -Liam Dunbar imagine
Writers Note: this is inspired by a night I will never forget where me and an awesome person I know ran in the dark and felt infinite

He takes your hand, slotting it into yours like a jigsaw, a perfect fit.
He turns to you, a small smirk on his face, and his eyes narrow as he looks ahead in determination.
‘Ready?’ He asks, exhaling slowly.
You giggle slightly, squeezing his hand tight before replying.
‘Ready.’
So you run.
You feel your insides bounce and your head pound as you run side by side, not letting go of each other’s hands for even a second.
It feels strangely free, to be running so fast for no particular reason.
You don’t stop until you reach the middle of the school field, and you both breathe heavily, clutching your sides and laughing, bent over.
Liam stands up straight beside you, and reaches for your hand before you both turn around.
It’s nothing astonishing, nothing breathtaking and nothing astoundingly beautiful, just oddly tranquil.
You’ve never seen beacon hills high school like this, from the distance in the dark, all the lights still on.
It’s strange, you’re so used to being here in daylight that the darkness seems so different and unfamiliar.
You love it.
It’s silent apart from your panting breaths and Liam’s soft sighs.
Suddenly you’re hit with a thought.
‘This is like one of those moments.’
You gasp.
Liam turns to you and frowns, ‘what do you mean?’
You smile softly, still looking at the school in the distance, 'Y'know, a perks of being a wallflower moment.’ You sigh, referring to the film you love.
Liam hums slowly, 'riiigghtt.’ He says, clearly unconvinced and confused.
You smile at him. His face is only half lit by the distant light, and he seems to glow with beauty in the surrounding dark.
You close your eyes, taking a breath.
'The sky is dark, but the air is full of unnatural light. The air is cool and our heads are clear. I can hear my heartbeat, and can see our breath.
This is what it feels to be alive. To be human.’ You smile, and Liam looks at you in wonder, a small smile on his lips.
You grin, 'I feel infinite.’
He grins too then, squeezing your hand, 'yeah, yeah, me too.’
After a while you both run back through the dark, laughter filling the empty air.
He grabs your hands when you reach the school, spinning you both round and tipping his head back in laughter.
You watch him as the rest of the world blurs, and grip his hands as you spin.
You decide then, that life doesn’t really get any better than this.
