Char Okakiage Recipe (Fish breaded with Kaki no Tane) from Shokugeki no Souma

I found this at my local Daiso, and decided to make this dish. (I had to separate the peanuts from the kaki)

Ingredients

  • Kaki (I used 4 packs in the above package, separated from the peanuts)
  • Fish Fillets (I used Sole, because I have no river fish.)
  • Flour to cover fish (No matter what Souma says, this is needed.)
  • 1 Egg

Method

  • Heat oil in deep-frying pot.
  • Crush the kaki into crumbs
  • Pat the Fillets dry and cover in flour (Note: Or else the egg and kaki won’t stick on the fillet)
  • Dredge fillets in egg
  • Immediately transfer to bowl of kaki crumbs and cover with crumbs
  • Fry till golden brown.
  • (It’s also possible to use an air fryer if you have one)

Enjoy with Mayonnaise! (Or some pepper tree buds and mountain vegetables)
