After decades of war, Lord Stannis Baratheon plans to unite the Seven Kingdoms under his rule. In a fight with the Vale, Jon Snow, Stannis’ most trusted soldier, manages to defeat the heir Harry Hardying in battle but is poisoned in the process, and believed to be dead.

Meanwhile Sansa, Harry’s betrothed, stumbles across a wounded Jon and decides to shelter him. She tells Jon that she is called Alayne, and takes care of him and hides him from the Lord of the Vale, Petyr Baelish. They spend long days together and eventually fall for each other. Sansa helps Jon leave the Vale to head back to Stannis, but cannot leave with him when he asks.

Jon returns to Stannis and learns of a tournament held at the Vale for the hand of Lord of the Vale’s daughter, Sansa. He agrees to participate to win her for Stannis’ wife, thus ensuring an allegiance between Stannis and the Vale. Little does he know that Sansa is Alayne, the girl he hasn’t stopped thinking about since he returned…
