Title: Enter Sandman

Word Count: 760

Warnings: Fluffiness!

Request: You’re Sam’s best friend, and you just had a bad nightmare about a hunt you were on and you go sleep in his bed for the night and it’s just really nice and fluffy.

A/N: Nice and short, remember to keep requesting!

I tiptoed into Sam’s room, it was currently 1 in the morning and I was dressed in my bra and undies.

Dean wasn’t home yet, he was still with that waitress from the bar- god knows what time that idiot would get back home.

“Sammy” I whispered with a frown on my face as I remembered the nightmare from just moments ago. Hunters always had nightmares, it didn’t matter who you were or how tough you thought you were- they were always there to remind you of the life you live.

“Sam” I sighed, sitting on the edge of his bed and shoving him a little too roughly.

He awoke with a start as he reached underneath his pillow, a knife resting itself on my neck- his breath hitching as his hand recoiled when he realised it was just me.

“Goodness Prue, you scared the crap out of me.” He put his knife back under his pillow and sat up, flicking on his bedside lamp. “Are you okay?”

“I had another nightmare, Moose.” I admitted, crawling over him so I could sit lie down beside this gloriously shirtless man. “I’m sleeping with you tonight.”

“Sure thing honey” He turned the light off and turned so his back was facing the door, and he was facing me. I leaned back in his arms so my back was against his chest. I smiled as his arms snaked around my naked stomach. He held me so tightly and securely- I felt safe; like nothing in this world could ever harm us.

“Couldn’t you come in here wearing a little more clothes?” He teased.

“Shut up Moose” I heard his laugh reverberate throughout the room and I smiled, his laugh was nice. It warmed my heart just to hear it.

“What was the nightmare about?” He asked.

“The same as all the others, a little girl is being attacked and I don’t make it there in time. I never do.”

This had been a hunt me, Sam and Dean had been on awhile back. Sam and Dean told me to check out the back of the building and ass I got there I saw a Vetala sucking the life out of her throat- it must’ve been her last feed because the girl gave me a look.

As a hunter I have seen that look many times.

It’s the look where you know you’re going to die, that you’re on the cusp of it… and so you just give up, allowing the sweet release of death to take its hold on you.

She was 10 years old.

And it was my fault- I should have gotten there earlier. I should have stopped that bitch. But I didn’t.

“You know, Prue, that wasn’t your fault. You can’t blame yourself for what happened to that little girl. What happened to her was tragic and unavoidable. If you want to blame someone then you blame that Vatala. You saved that little girl’s sister from the same fate.”

“But now that little girl has to live in fear because she knows that monsters are real. She has her childhood ripped from her and that’s not fair. Do you know what it’s like growing up knowing that they’re-“And I stopped my sentence there, because Sam Winchester was the poster boy of that subject, at the age of 12 he had already managed to successfully decapitate a rouge vampire, at the age of 12 he could fight off demons much less a grown adult.

He and Dean had the same type of upbringing I did.

“I’m sorry” I whispered. “I just feel so sorry for her. I’d give anything for her to not know what is out there. I’d give anything for me now to know what is out here.”

“For what it’s worth” Sam murmured, kissing my shoulder blade. “I wish that sometimes too.”

“I love you Sam”

I could feel him smiling against me.

“I love you too Prue, get some sleep okay?”

“But what if the nightmare comes back?” I asked, my voice breaking. “What if-“

“Well, then I’ll be there to stop the whole thing. I’ll keep the nightmares away” He promised me, tightening his hold on me. “Now go to sleep.”

And, just as he said- he kept the nightmares away.
