Meet Chris Robinson

Hello Tumblrs,

It’s been a while since I last posted here.  After graduating from Full Sail University last year, my plans were to keep posting regularly.  Unfortunately, I got stretched out in so many areas and lost time to post here.  Anyway, I’m back and hopefully will be here more often now.

I started a website some years ago with the purpose of showcasing local, but not limited to local talent, in South Carolina.  The site went neglected the entire time I was in school.  It was just too much for me to keep up.  Now, I have been revamping it and just trying to bring quality content to it.  A few days ago, I made a post about a guy named Chris Robinson.  He’s an independent filmmaker and photographer.  You can read the article here, and if you enjoy the write-up, please come by and check the rest of the site at this link —-> South Carolina’s Hip Hop Buzz.  Thanks for reading. Hope you enjoy.

Chris Robinson

Chris was born in Wilmington, NC but raised in the beautiful city of Myrtle Beach, SC from the age of 8 years old.  Chris said he had a great childhood — of course, he did some of the average knucklehead stuff — nothing serious though.  Currently, Chris is back in his home-state with his loving wife and two beautiful kids.

Finding His Purpose

Coming up, Chris was always into the arts but was never focused enough to take it seriously.  He stated that in high school, he joined the marching band and got kicked out.  He also attended the art school in Myrtle Beach and was kicked out of there as well.  He simply had no focus during those moments of his life.

Later, Chris became a supervisor for the American Red Cross, where he lead his own team.  Though this was a good position, he was still not happy with it.  Chris stated that he was just working because, at the time, having a legit job just seemed like the best thing to do — many people thought dream chasing was a waste of time, so he didn’t want to be perceived as a loser who was chasing his dreams.

Film and Photography

One day, he woke up and thought to himself that he wanted to make money while totally enjoying himself in the process.  Film has always been a big interest in his life.  He enjoyed the science of capturing angles and cuts, then applying transitions, effects, and music to immerse viewers into an experience.  Clearly, film is his passion and ultimate goal, but since photography falls in the realm, he made it part of his repertoire.

The Chris Robinson Brand  - CR Visions

We didn’t mention that Chris is also a producer and songwriter/rapper artist.  There was a span in his life where he produced beats for artists and wrote songs of his own.  CR Visions is branded from a saying he had in the studio — “Respect the Vision.” Quite often while producing for artists, they would look at him crazy like, “Where is he going with this?”  He would always tell them to respect the vision.   “You never know until you see the end results.”  CR Visions evolved from that saying.

Chris enjoys aiding his clients in projecting their vision, be it photo or video — “Respect the Vision.”

“I have a movie premiering on September 17 at the NC Black Film Festival and it should be amazing.”

Advice from Chris Robinson

When asked if there was one piece of advice he could give to aspiring entrepreneurs or those with a dream or vision, what would he tell them in order to keep them inspired and on track, Chris replied, “Never Stop!!  "Just because nothing has happened yet, it just may not be your time.  Treat your business like your leg. What would you do without it?  And I don’t have a backup plan.  This is it.  Either it works or I don’t eat.  Plain and simple.”
