Aqua Art Miami has become the premier destination for prominent collectors and art aficionados to procure works by young, emerging and mid-career artists. Throughout the years, Aqua Art Miami has continued to solidify itself as a completely unique fair, consistently staying true to its signature relaxed yet energetic vibe. The 2016 edition will feature 47 international exhibitors showcasing fresh new works, and set in the intimate exhibition rooms that open into a beautiful courtyard, all found within the classic South Beach, Aqua Hotel. This year, the five-day fair has partnered with the Association of Women Art Dealers (AWAD), a non-profit trade network on a mission to facilitate business between and for women art dealers. Aqua Art Miami and AWAD will be hosting a special morning panel on Friday, December 2 that will address ‘Unconscious Bias and the Art World,’ moderated by Susan Mumford, founder and CEO of AWAD.

Attracting leading collectors, curators, museum directors and critics from across the globe, Art Basel in Miami Beach is the premier art show of the Americas, with half of the 289 galleries having exhibition spaces in the region. The geographically diverse list of participants spans 29 countries around the world. 2016 marks the fifteenth edition of the Miami Beach show, which has expanded over the years to include dedicated sections for film, outdoor sculpture, works in edition and curated shows of historical significance. The show has always offered both exploration – with new works created by emerging artists – and a continuity of a high quality international roster. Over 85 galleries exhibiting this year also took part in the very first edition in Miami Beach in 2002.

This year’s fair kicks off on Tuesday evening with a VIP Private Preview to benefit Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM) in the Art Miami Pavilion, sponsored by Christie’s International Real Estate. As one of the top ranked international art fairs for attendance in the U.S. and second most attended globally, Art Miami attracts more than 85,000 new and established collectors, curators, museum professionals, members of the press and art world luminaries annually to its 200,000 square foot pavilion in the Wynwood Arts District. Now celebrating its fifth edition, CONTEXT Art Miami has been relocated to a standalone 65,000 square-foot pavilion just one block from its sister fair, Art Miami, on 34th Street (between NE 1st Avenue and Buena Vista Blvd.). The new location will allow fairgoers to travel with ease between the two fairs under Art Miami LLC, creating a perfect art crawl for established collectors, curators, art institutions and art advisors. As an exciting addition this year, new exhibitors to CONTEXT Art Miami include London’s Paul Stolper Gallery, which will offer an installation of new works from English musical genius and visual artist, Brian Eno. Eno will show new light boxes, which seamlessly phase through combinations of seductive self-generated 'colourscapes.’

Design Miami/ returns to Miami Beach across from Art Basel for its 12th edition as the meeting point of the design world’s elite with a distinctly new set of projects, partnerships and programming. Thirty-one of the world’s leading design galleries will exhibit, with four first-time exhibitors: Chamber of New York City, The Future Perfect of New York City and San Francisco, Mercado Moderno of Rio de Janeiro and Giovanni Beltran of Miami. This edition reveals several pronounced highlights among the fair’s gallery program – Mexican emerging and established talent will appear, with new works by Abel Zavala at ammann//gallery, Tanya Aguiñiga at Volume Gallery, and Gloria Cortina at Cristina Grajales Gallery. Unexpected materials will also be found throughout the fair, signaling a distinct inclination to the found and to the salvaged this year; ranging from new work by Misha Kahn at Friedman Benda; Hugo França’s works in reclaimed indigenous woods at Mercado Moderno; and Niek Pulles of Amsterdam at Chamber Gallery presents everything from classical door frames to objects and products all found on the streets of his native Amsterdam. INK Miami has been unique among satellite fairs of Art Basel Miami Beach for its exclusive focus on works on paper. The fifth Miami Project represents an ambitious step forward for the world-class art fair. Miami Project Edition 5 will be erected atop and within an expansive structure located in Miami Beach, just steps from the entrance of NADA Miami. The fifth edition of the Miami River Art Fair, an international, contemporary art fair, will take place at the Downtown Miami Convention Center inside the James L. Knight International Center. This art fair was conceived as a showcase of world-class galleries, artists and projects in an indoor booth setting at the Riverfront Hall. This grand show space overlooks the one-of-a-kind outdoor Riverwalk Sculpture Mall that will feature monumental sculptures on the banks of the historic Miami River. It will feature 300 exhibitors from around the world including London, Mexico, Belgium, Spain, The Netherlands, Monaco, France, Thailand and the U.S. with current and upcoming projects in Dubai, Singapore, Hong Kong, Austria, Portugal, Barcelona, New York, Marbella and Berlin.

The 14th edition of NADA Miami Beach, December 1-4, will take place at the Deauville Beach Resort, located at 6701 Collins Ave. NADA Miami Beach continues to showcase the best of emerging contemporary art, with exhibitors representing 36 cities from 17 different countries, 43 first-time exhibitors, and 29 project spaces. Commonly viewed as an alternative assembly during Miami Art Week, NADA vigorously pursues the goal of exploring new or underexposed art that is not typical of the "art establishment.” It features some of the world’s youngest and strongest art galleries dealing with emerging contemporary art and is the only major American art fair to be run by a non-profit organization. Infused with youth and vigor, the fair succeeds in exploring alternatives to what has historically been labeled “art,” while finding fascinating parameters of its own.

Launched in New York in 2006, the fair is considered the most important event of its kind. The founding of PINTA Miami was a milestone event in awareness of twentieth-century Hispanic-American art. It has increased the visibility in the United States of crucial figures like Julio Le Parc, José Gurvich, Jorge Eielson, Lydia Okumura, Antonio Manuel, Waltercio Caldas, Ivan Contreras Brunet, Carlos Cruz-Diez, and Spanish artist Elena Asins – all of whom have been featured in its exhibitions and galleries. Emerging contemporary artists like Elias Crespin, Ivan Navarro, Alexandre Arrechea, Dario Escobar, Matias Duville, Alejandro Londono, Gonzalo Fuenmayor, José Luis Landet, Ricardo Alcaide, Emilio Chapela, and many others have also participated in the fair. Through innovative management strategies, PINTA has been instrumental to major museums’ acquiring works by Latin American artists.

For the first time to be viewed publicly, the Kinsey Institute and the World Erotic Art Museum (WEAM) co-present “Protected Beauty,” an examination of controversial ideas about masculine beauty and sexuality in art. The show will display work from well-known artists Robert Mapplethorpe, Paul Cadmus, Andrey Avinoff, Michael Miksche, George Platt Lynes, Wilhelm von Gloeden, Pavel Tchelitchew and Marcel Vertes – gay male artists whose work had been collected by the Kinsey Institute. The artists created these works between 1890 and 1982. The show will feature 44 photographs, prints, drawings, and paintings that exemplify the different ways that these artists have defined male beauty.

Founded in 2005, PULSE Contemporary Art Fair is an established part of the annual art calendar and is recognized for providing its international community of emerging and established galleries with a dynamic platform for connecting with a global audience. PULSE offers visitors an engaging environment in which to discover and collect the most compelling contemporary art being produced today. Jasmine Wahi and Rebecca Jampol, co-founders and directors of Gateway Project Spaces and its non-profit gallery Project for Empty Space, will curate the innovative video exploration, PLAY along with reviewing and adjudicating all submissions. Wahi and Jampol jointly run Gateway, which is a highly competitive residency program, and the gallery in a 50,000 square-foot hub for creative engagement located in Newark. Celebrated as cultural leaders and influencers, they have played pivotal roles in the development and expansion of Newark’s growing art community. Their collaboration with PULSE Miami Beach is a continuation of their curatorial practice which is known for actively cultivating strong multi-disciplinary art from around the world.

“The Women Who Made Art Modern”, curated by X Contemporary’s Consulting Curator Michael Klein, explores the careers and programs of some sixteen art dealers all of whom are women, and all of whom were great innovators in their day, supporting and championing the new in American art. Some 50-60 works of art will be on view by artists including Grace Hartigan, Agnes Martin, Dan Flavin, and Malcolm Morley. European artists include Alberto Burri, Alan Davie, and William Scott. X Contemporary believes that highlighting the achievements in art business is one of their main jobs as an art fair.
