FLIX: THE LAST RESORT

The Last Resort, winner of the Audience Award for Best Documentary at the 2018 Miami Jewish Film Festival heads to South Florida. The film, co-directed by South Florida filmmakers Kareem Tabsch and Dennis Scholl, takes viewers on a journey through the lens of young photographers Andy Sweet and Gary Monroe as they explore the iconic Miami Beach of the ‘70s. South Beach housed the largest group of Jewish retirees in the nation prior to the Art Deco movement and the MTV culture, including Miami Vice; making Miami Beach’s population mostly over 70 years old and very Jewish. Andy Sweet and Gary Monroe managed to document the aging population throughout their 10-year project from the ‘70s to the ‘80s. What they ended up with is one of the most fascinating photographic documentation of a community ever caught on film.
