The female talent keeps coming this holiday season with multi-instrumentalist Kristin Rebecca! Check out our chat with her below.
1. What is your favorite Holiday Song and Why?
Carol of the Bells is my favorite holiday song because there’s an energy to the piece that gets me into the holiday spirit.
2. What were the traditions around the holidays in your house growing up?
There are two traditions my family that I think of fondly. The first tradition is we would play music as a family band in-between Christmas Eve church services at the church we attended. We did this for 10 years and I really cherish the family time we had together. The second tradition is my family and I would open the presents under the tree on Christmas Eve and then the stocking presents on Christmas Day. The tradition started when I was a little kid and I asked to open just one present on Christmas Eve like most kids do and my parents let me. Then one led two and two led to three and soon enough everyone had opened their presents under the tree. We still hold to this tradition to this day.
3. If you could record your dream holiday duet with anyone dead or alive what would it be?
I would love to perform “Mary, Did You Know?” with Josh Groban. His Christmas album is one of my favorites and I think our voices would blend well together.
4. Whats the first Holiday track you ever learned?
“Gabriel’s Message” was the first holiday song I ever learned. I played the angel in a nativity play as a pre-teen and needed to learn the song for the part.
5. What’s the coolest holiday track ever (this is different from your favorite b/c its THE COOLEST!)
“The Bells of Christmas” by Loreena Mckennitt is the coolest holiday song I’ve ever heard. It’s got this great blend of new age style mixed with the traditional sounds of a choir and brass that we usually hear with Christmas music.
