Cardiac is much more than a band, it is a creative project dedicated to connecting spirits, spreading hope and providing a much needed shoulder to cry on, a sympathetic ear, a friend to those who need it most. The music is a personal journal highlighting the difficulty in dealing with heartbreak and loss; battling with drug use and suicide; and ultimately, overcoming those obstacles in a realization of purpose. The band consists of seasoned musicians who, along with a wealth of talent and experience, all possess a willingness to reach out and help those who need it. The performance combines raw emotion and delicate movements. There is graceful harmony and yet severe force in the melodies and rhythms.
All of this has come together in a self-titled, 8-song EP, available on iTunes. The EP marks the beginning of a rock opera which will be realized in a 20-song double album and full theatrical stage performance highlighting the strengths earned by conquering weakness. From frontman Dave DiSarro’s blasting chant “I WILL FIGHT!” in the epic Fighting Demons, to the whispered “I wish I still knew you” in Rot in Rhode Island, Cardiac has mesmerized audiences at every show. A 2012 tour followed the EP release, sending the band on a mini tour throughout the southwest on the road to a week of performances at Texas Rock Fest/SXSW in Austin where over 800,000 fans had gathered for arts festivals. The band has since filmed and completed a music video for the single, Breathe, with Ocean Park Films which received rotation on several networks, television and internet, after getting over 100,000 views on YouTube in it’s first week out. They once again teamed up with Ocean Park Films for their second music video, Fighting Demons, which they released during their fall tour debuting the video at many of the clubs they performed at. They secured a publishing/licensing deal with Urband & Lazar Publishing; began production on a full documentary, and self booked their own 6 week tour across 22 states for the fall of 2012. The band has been featured on the international event known as RawArtists and has also been asked to be the first band in America to launch the School Of Rockupy, recording songs with youth along side big names like Tom Morello (Rage Against The Machine), Jello Biafra (Dead Kennedys), and author Alan Moore (V For Vendetta, The Watchmen). In 2013 Cardiac toured east to west playing events through the northern states in order to perform in Utah during the Sundance Film Fest. In the spring they toured the southern U.S. in order to return once again to play several shows at this years Texas Rock Fest/SXSW in which this year they headlined with a midnight set on Saturday of the event.
The band has is currently sponsored/endorsed by Budweiser, Motorcraft Quality Parts, ESP Guitars, Line6, Ddrum, and have been working along side organizations Music Saves Lives, Canvas Foundation, and To Write Love On Her Arms, raised money for several fire departments and health facilities and foundations as well as putting together benefit shows for Wounded Warriors, AMVETS, Hurricane Sandy Victims, and and many more.
The heart is a powerful aspect of being and yearns to connect with others. In much the same way, Cardiac works with any and all organizations interested in providing awareness and raising funds for people in need of emotional support. Out of darkness comes light, and out of pain comes healing. This band is a phoenix: a burning presence risen from ashes burned by despair and sorrow.
