Den Sorte Skole feat. the Danish National Chamber Orchestra: Live 2014
Den Sorte Skole (‘The Black School’) is probably one of the most interesting musical endeavours going on in Denmark right now. Starting out as a DJ collective in the more traditional sense of the word in the early ’00s, they have since moved on to produce music that takes cut & paste sampling to a whole new level. Their latest album, ‘Lektion III’, consists of nothing but samples lifted off 250+ old vinyl records collected from 51 different countries. This odd mix of genres, cultures and influences makes up a rather unconventional listening experience that is impossible to pinpoint — and rather mesmerizing.
This audio clip is a performance of their collaboration with the Danish National Chamber Orchestra; a rather intriguing partnership that takes the symphonic sounds of an orchestra to an entirely different, worldly place.
