I’m kind of curious about the purpose of this pre-meeting. No disrespect intended, but this sounds like it’s from a Dilbert comic.
DALLAS - The Charles Koch Foundation is giving the University of Dallas’ Braniff Graduate School $1.09 million. This is the largest grant UD has ever received for liberal arts (Satish and Yasmin Gupta gave $12 million to the business school a few years ago).

IRVING - The May 2019 commencement for the University of Dallas will remain on the Mall. The school administration had considered moving the commencement to a larger indoor (air-conditioned) facility, such as the Toyota Music Factory.
I agree commencement is somewhat uncomfortable, but there is something very classical and UDish about sitting through an Inferno before receiving your diploma

The UD administration is hoping to make the school a center for Catholic social teaching, offering an interdisciplinary masters degree and graduate certificate program.
Letter to the Editor of the University News on Farrell Article

The University News, the University of Dallas’ newspaper, published an article this week that rehashed the #FarewellFarrell petition calling for Cardinal Farrell’s name to be stripped from the two buildings on campus. As the author of the petition, I made my response in a letter to the editor of the University News.
Letter to the Editor
I appreciated the latest article on Cardinal Farrell from the University News. However, this article appears to perpetuate certain misconceptions about the petition that I would like to clarify.
First, the primary argument against naming the building after Cardinal Farrell is not his proximity to the scandals. The petition argues that Cardinal Farrell should not have two buildings named after him because he has done nothing to merit that honor.
The article calls Bishop Farrell “a long-time friend of UD,” though it does not give any examples of anything he has done for the University. The University News has no articles on its website recording the bishop doing anything for the school. I am not aware of him ever visiting the campus except for graduations; he certainly didn’t do so while I was enrolled. His only effect on the University that I am aware of is the depopulation of Fort Worth seminarians after a squabble with Bishop Michael Olson.
Second, the petition does not accuse Cardinal Farrell of being complicit in the scandals or call for any investigation into his involvement. The petition merely identifies facts regarding Cardinal Farrell’s close proximity to the epicenters of two massive scandals.
Bishop Farrell served as General Administrator of the Legion of Christ under Fr. Maciel, which appears to be one of the top five positions in the Legion, and he worked and lived with the former Cardinal McCarrick for six years. Neither of these facts implies guilt, but given his later statements that he “never suspected anything,” he is either lying or clueless. I welcome any response that can argue against that statement.
In any case, a prestigious University should not be naming its buildings after clueless prelates who have contributed nothing to the school.
Finally, to Bishop Burns, I say this.
Your Excellency, I am surprised that the diocese does not find the violation of Bishop Farrell’s own safe environment procedures as worthy of investigation. In the current lawsuit by John Doe, the diocese does not deny that Bishop Farrell failed to report an abuse case to the diocese’s review board and the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, which violates diocesan policy. Is that violation of policy not worthy of investigation?
Furthermore, Your Excellency, we both know that there is an allegation against Cardinal Farrell that is credible enough to be under police investigation. The diocese’s statement that it “has nothing to do with any investigation on Farrell,” if true, tells me that the diocese did not report this allegation to the police and is not cooperating with the investigation.
