I don’t know why it says ‘via postmodernmulticoloredcloak’ bc I didn’t write that lol. Quote posts are weird.
But yes. Omg. I never expected them to a) really provide an explanation for Jack being an adult at all, honestly, b) actually make the parallel between him skipping childhood/teenage and Dean’s lack of childhood/teenage FUCKING TEXTUAL JUST LIKE THAT PLEASE WARN A GUY BEFORE YOU STAB ME IN THE CHEST OKAY. I mean, I could never expect that the reason WAS that Jack chose to become an adult right away out of fear. I expected them to just, you know, archangel nephilim, magical stuff, subtext if you squint hard. Instead, THAT FUCKER WROTE THAT FUCKING LINE AND DESTROYED ME.
No, really, the age of subtext is coming to a close, so many things about Lost and Found suggest that, and by suggest I mean SLAP YOU IN THE FACE WITH IT
I will never, ever be over what this episode did. Dabb said that 12x23 was ‘the most meta finale’ they ever did but this was possibly the most meta premiere they ever did because it was a fucking TREATISE ON HOW TO SHIFT YOUR SUBTEXT IN TEXT.
I was thinking earlier than I hope they get some recognition, you know, at award level of some sort, not just for Jensen’s acting but for the writing and production too.

TREATISE ON HOW TO SHIFT YOUR SUBTEXT IN TEXT. THIS IS HOW I FEEL ABOUT 13x01 AND A LOT OF SEASON 12 AND I CANT EVEN RN
(via tinkdw)
Exactly my man Dabb is doing the thing and he’s already smashed one of the glaringly strident things in Alpha and Omega (Earth is fine, it has got you and Sam) so next he’s going to smash the other glaringly strident thing in Alpha and Omega (you know which one) because that was his plan all along and a lot of people didn’t have enough faith in him (and us writing the meta) but now I expect that it’s going to become clear with anyone, I mean at least the ones that don’t purposely wear slices of salami over their eyes.
Let me just say, as a humble meta writer, that
Speaking of which (since we have been foreseeing things from long ago): let me just finish this by giving Caesar what belongs to Caesar and to Carver what belongs to Carver because he built the boat. Thanks Jeremy.

I really think the structure in the last episode hammered down a lot of what Dabb is trying to say, especially in regard to Destiel. We as the audience of course should know that there are things that just don’t happen on screen because we just see a very very tiny glimpse every week but you can forget that very easily when you just watch along because usually Supernatural is a very procedural show.
But starting with 12x12 (of course before that, too, but I feel like we’re having a theme here :P) and the Tarantino-esque episode they started really putting emphasis on the fact that we just don’t have the full picture. That there are things happening that will have to be explored later, that make scenes that happened before much more clearer… that was the whole episode.
Then we had 12x19 with the mixtape. Again, we should know that Cas and Dean (and Sam) spend time - domestic stuff - outside of the episodes but the mixtape really hammered down that this is important and things that may happen off screen may come up later. Especially in regards to Dean and Cas.
And now? 13x01 was a beautiful episode. The stuff we got from Dean grieving at the end of the episode was so powerful. And we - at least my whole dashboard :P - could feel throughout the whole episode that there was something missing, something that should be there. Even without the spoilers we already had it was obvious: how did Cas get there? Why is Dean’s hand bleeding?
Technically, the episode could have made sense without these scenes but it would have felt very wonky. And it’s just a good feeling to get recognition, to realize that yes, there was something missing, we’re still missing part of the puzzle.
Which leads us all to Destiel - all these little tidbits of things shown out of order can be used to show us more about Dean and Cas’ relationship. Things that are missing but make total sense in context and that make scenes seem different in retrospective.
Things that by all means should be there because they make the show better. Because we can pick up these clues and see that there’s *something* going on. And if that’s Dabb’s approach to Destiel then I’m very much looking forward to that.

I’m still not convinced those aren’t angels. Did i miss a forehead shot of horns?
Mm… you have point, I guess I just assumed Lucifer wouldn’t have such a easy time poofing angels in the alternate reality, but it’s possible that he thinks he’s going to have it nice and easy and then Michael shows up like ‘um what do you think you’re doing’ and Lucifer goes ‘oops’.
Thoughts?
Exploding into light also suggests angels, though Lucifer blowing up angels has also given us jammy blood spatter and a tidy disintegration.
Yeah, whatever they are (they don’t have horns but it was suggested horns area trait of a kind of demon, right? So they’re either angels or a different kind of demon that requires less makeup and effects so they can be used more liberally lol) the way they look when Lucifer poofs them is still ‘new’.
Pretty sure both angels and demons work very differently in the alternate reality, we’ll soon know exactly how :)
