- jim kirk not being an annoying dudebro, no weird/sexist interpersonal relationships with “foxy” alien ladies
- the horrified look on bones’ face when spock starts laughing out of delirium
- the sequence where the enterprise is basically decapitated and dismembered and then set on fire is pretty spectacular (also when kirk and chekov are running around being badasses in the wreckage)
- chekov being a motherfucking pimp, literally flirting with anyone and telling outrageous lies about russia
- also chekov being an absolute sweetheart and getting everyone else into their escape pods before getting in himself
- the sequence with the beastie boys playing in the background was actually super-cool
and not cringe like guardians of the galaxy - sulu is a bad bitch. this is just a fact. super cool. super gay. very pilot.
- uhura kicking ass, sacrificing her own safety, saving spock lmaooo
- jaylah being super rad, unsexualised, intelligent af
- thank the lord for simon pegg he did a great job integrating women without making it sexualised and unnecessary, integrating sulu’s homosexuality without making it this huge deal, making the film funny without making it cringe niiceeee
- the photo of the old cast was a lovely touch. very well done.
- chekov and sulu lowkey dancing to the beastie boys while flying a motherfucking starship
- i’m just really happy that chekov got so much more airtime, he was a central character with a lot to do and anton did a marvellous job
- the dedications to leonard nimoy and anton at the end
- “to absent friends” — did the camera linger on anton? idk?
- it was just a really well balanced film with good action, lovely set design, comedy, tragedy etc and i think it was the best of all the three films so far
- i miss you a lot anton, thank you for a lovely performance.

When Jim experiences grief…
Jim’s throat closed up, but something was stronger than the dark weight of his grief. It was love, he knew, it was love. Love for Bones. It was love that went beyond passion or affection or familiarity. It was love that was anchored in the soul, inexorable and impossible to ignore. And God, he loved Bones. He knew that he could conquer the universe with him at his side. His soul may be broken today but Bones has always managed to fix him. Jim would heal, his heart would have more scars but it will beat. He would live, just because Bones is the life he needs. Just because Bones is his life.

Kirk: You’ve a friend who’s….a juggler?
Spock: Juggling is an excellent method to ameliorate the eye-hand coordination, Captain. You need high concentration, a lot of patience and practice.
Kirk: You sound like an expert.
Spock: Many vulcans own this capability and I’m not constituting an exception.
A Million Dreams
There was nothing like the stars for Jim.
Every night he would lie awake for hours, staring out of the window, completely lost in thoughts.
A million dreams are keeping him awake.
Earth was to small for Jim’s heart. He wanted more, he wanted to travel beyond, see things nobody has ever seen before.
It would be dark sometimes, dangerous and completely crazy but he knew that it would feel like home the moment he is close.
Because Earth has never felt like home.
Some people see darkness and vastness, terrifying infinity. Nothing to be drawn to.
They say it’s crazy, that the young reckless Kirk boy is some sort of lunatic. That his dreams are nothing but the ridiculous imagination of a childish dream.
For Jim there are millions of lights.
A sky full of the brightest colours with limitless possibilities.
He would think about these millions of galaxies, what the world would be like.
His own visions of adventures and opportunities.
Places he could run to, worlds that would wait for him to fill his eyes with wonder.
Beauty in its purest form.
Things to make him smile, to feel alive and free.
There is nothing like the stars for Jim.
But one day, sitting surrounded by cadets on a shuttle which should bring him one step closer to his dreams, he meets a pair of hazel eyes.
And like the star he loves so much, those eyes are full of the brightest colours, taking his breath away.
Looking into those eyes he sees a million possibilities.
But love on first sight is crazy right?
Jim couldn’t care less.
He has always run after his dreams, stayed awake just thinking about each and single one of them.
When he looks into these eyes, all those million dreams, suddenly don’t feel so far away.
There might not be anything like the stars for Jim Kirk.
But there also isn’t anything like Leonard McCoy for Jim.
There isn’t anyone like Bones.
He doesn’t need to travel a million of worlds if his heart has already found its home.
A home with the brightest colours, just like stars.
Star Light - The Musical
Chapter 1 - Overture
Leonard wasn’t much of a theatre guy. Yes, he enjoyed the occasional concert, came to all of his daughter’s ballet performances (which also involved handling too many over excited single-moms, but it was definitely worth it for his baby girl), and he played the piano himself. So nobody could say that he wasn’t able to appreciate the arts. Leo loved music and if somebody invited him to a piece by Shakespeare, he definitely wouldn’t say no. But what are the odds of that?
It was just…musicals, okay? What was the point of those? People dancing around and singing about their lives. No, not even about their lives! They just decided to sing instead of talk, as if this would solve their problems somehow better.
He wished.
Troll a stupid song and magically all your issues suddenly disappear? Sounds like a plan. An idiotic plan.
Nope, he definitely didn’t get musicals and he sure as hell didn’t get the appeal of them. A too boring plot to be captivating without singing and dancing, that was his humbled opinion. They were all the same anyway, right?
