There’s really no where to begin with The Office.
(quick shoutout to my darlings Maneh and Ani for convincing me to watch this show, it’s definitely one of the best decisions I’ve ever made).
Now let’s talk that sensational finale.
Dwight and Angela finally tied the knot; also, people actually brought cats as wedding gifts. Seriously marvelous. There aren’t many words to describe the traditions of Schrute weddings, but in those very moments there was an exceptional amount of character growth from both bride and groom. Who would’ve thought little Angela Martin would ever give in to getting married literally standing in her grave? We are most selfless when we are most in love. That wedding could not have been more accurate in portraying Dwight and Angela as their crazy, raw, and undeniably lovable selves.
Andy’s video going viral? Well of course that’d happen to him. It’s what he wanted isn’t it? The chanting that took place right before he was considering leaving the panel was his shining moment and it was great. After all this time, he’s finally famous.
What I’ve always loved most about Erin is how genuinely happy and accepting she is. She proves that with that sweet hug between her parents. She finally knows them. Happiness all around for her. Did anyone else catch that moment of hand holding between her Pete? Pam & Jim 2.0 are cuties.
Oscar running for state senator? 4 for you, Oscar Martinez. You go, Oscar Martinez. Also, he’s Philip’s Godfather and that’s lovely.
Creed is arrested. Stanley is happy and retired. Darryl is rad and successful. Phillys is happy. Meredith is more strange than ever. Toby is writing a book. Kevin owns a bar. Pete’s buds now call him “Plop”. Clark is just Clark. Nellie is going to mother Ryan’s baby. Ryan left his baby to rekindle an old flame with Kelly and they ran off in the sunset in the most Ryan/Kelly-esque way.
The Halperts. I could write a book about how exceptional I think these two are. No offense to any television couple, but JAM is the greatest most brilliant television couple to exist. Pam selling the house to let Jim fullfil his dreams, honestly though, this is what love is. Jim telling Pam she is and has always been everything. The selflessness that exudes from both of them is the most rare and beautiful thing to exist in life. True love. If you say you don’t want a love like theirs, you’re lying. I know I do. Oh, and how precious was that classic Pam and Jim moment as receptionist and salesman? Too precious for words.
MICHAEL SCOTT!
“Michael, I can’t believe you came.” “That’s what she said."
Steve Carrell, you amazing sneaky man, you. Thank you. It’s no secret you thought your exit was perfect as we all did, but your reappearance was faultless. Best Prank Ever? Without a doubt, Jim Halpert. Without a doubt.
"I feel like all my kids grew up and then married each other.” Michael saying this while looking at Dwight & Angela talking to Jim & Pam was unreal. A remarkably beautiful and moving moment. P.S there are little Michael and Holly Scotts running around in the world and that’s seriously grand. Absolutely no words for how spectacular his return and assurance that he’s doing good was. Watching him be Dwight’s “Bestest Mench” was really nothing short of perfect, and hey Jim, you’re the “Bestest Mench”, too.
Pam’s new mural being the history of them (Dunder Mifflin) was beautiful, and their choice to go back upstairs into The Office, simply brilliant. Cut to Pam taking the picture she painted of Dunder Mifflin, everyone hugging, flashback to Michael hanging the painting up for the first time, zoom into the actual building and you’ve got the most ordinary yet superlative ending.
There will never be another show that’s as immaculately rare as The Office.
