Destiny 2 Beta - What You Need To Know

Pegged as one of the most anticipated titles this year, Destiny 2 is set to build on and expand the legacy of the Destiny universe, established by the original in 2014.

Returning to Xbox One and PS4 this September, Destiny 2 is also set to make it’s series debut on PC later this Autumn.

To put it as spoiler free as possible for those who are yet to jump into the Destiny universe (turn back now!), following the events of the first game, it seems the proverbial has well and truly hit the fan in Destiny 2. Things are a total mess and naturally, it’s down to you to fix it.

So, here’s a run down of what we know so far about the Destiny 2 Beta and what you can expect (and boy is it exciting)

Destiny 2:  Beta Dates, Beta Start Times & Access

Whatever your console, this is when you’ll be able to get hands on with D2:

•  Destiny 2 PS4 Beta early access start time -                                      July 18th, 10am PST / 6pm BST - Preorder Beta Code Access only
  
• Destiny 2 Xbox One Beta start time -                                                  July 19th, 10am PST / 6pm BST - Preorder Beta Code Access only
  
• Destiny 2 Open Beta start time for all players on consoles -                  July 21st, 10am PST / 6pm BST 
  
• Destiny 2 Beta end time for all players on consoles -                        July 23rd, 9pm PST / 5am BST 
  
• Destiny 2 PC Beta start time -                                                                Sit tight PC fans! Apparently this will be available sometime in August,  more details to follow as we get them!  
  

What’s Included?

• Open Story Mission: Homecoming
  
• Two Crucible Modes: Countdown, which is new to Destiny 2 is an attack and defence based mode whereas Control is a more classic.
  
• Co-Operative Strike: The Inverted Spire - An all-out Vex Vs Cabal war set on Nessus, a Vex World. (Screenshot Pictured above)
• New Sub Classes: Warlock (Dawnblade), Hunter (Arcstrider) & Titan (Sentinel)
• Social Spaces: The Farm (Screenshot Pictured below) - Set to replace The Tower.  Players will be able to get a taste as part of the Early Access Demo on July 23rd:  UK: 6pm (BST) Europe: 7pm (CEST)
• New Emblem: Unlock-able in the full game when you play the Beta.    

What’s Not Included?

• Clan support
• Character progression within the beta
• Character progression beyond the beta into the full game

Story Development

From what we’ve learnt so far, Destiny 2′s plot will revolve around the Guardians once again pushing back against the game’s main enemy, the Cabal, specifically the dreaded Red Legion led by the particularly nasty, Dominus Ghaul. With The Tower destroyed and The Traveller captured, things are looking pretty dire for The Guardians.

This path of destruction has also killed Light, the power bestowed on The Guardians by the traveller. With your loot and weaponry destroyed, players will be tasked with reuniting the Vanguard from across the Solar System to join forces and restore balance and justice before all hope is truly lost. We’ll get to see some familiar faces make a comeback in Destiny 2 such as wisecracking Exo Cayde-6 and fellow Vanguard Leaders Ikora Rey and Commander Zavala.
