Diablo 3 is a game about long term goals accomplished in short, thrilling bursts. It’s rewarding and subtle. It’s flashy and boisterous. I have spent six years enjoying it, and will likely spend six years more. As far as video games go, that’s a long time–I came into the Eternal Edition expecting a eulogy for one of my favorite games. Instead, I stumbled upon a celebration.

Online or not, Diablo 3 is one of the best games to be released this decade. There’s a reason it’s still getting ported to new systems more than six years after its debut. The pairing of Blizzard’s design and Nintendo’s hardware, both companies working at their finest, is undeniable. As someone who has been a fan of Diablo 3 since it first launched, airplane rides will never be the same again.

GAME INFORMER - 9/10
Even after all these years, I still find Diablo III’s loop of starting small and becoming a godlike force of destruction irresistible. Even without major new additions, the Switch’s portability makes it easier than ever to pop into Sanctuary, kill a few hundred monsters, and scoop up some sweet new loot.

Everything I could’ve asked for from a proper Switch port. The graphical downgrades are noticeable in handheld mode, but it doesn’t detract from the experience at all, especially when it runs so smoothly.
