1. COMING THROUGH ON THE WIRE…

Hello, Cyberpunkers! We’re here on the back of last night’s livestream and second episode of from the Night City Wire. Over the course of this blog we’ll be going through what was covered, what more we can expect and generally just getting overly excited about the trip we have booked on November 19th. Sitting comfortably? Coffee in hand? Let’s begin.

First up on the agenda were Lifepaths in-game and the choices we have for our character’s origin. Split into 3 groups:

    • Nomad
    • Street Kid
    • Corpo

Each has its unique way of spinning your story, your upbringing and what’s shaped you to be who you are in this world. I was drawn immediately to Street Kid with the thought of an advantage over the others. Sure enough this is confirmed when touching upon your rough upbringing which has put you on the fringe of this city’s underbelly from a young age.

“BORN HERE. LIVE HERE. DIE HERE.”

However upon seeing the clip for Nomad, my head was turned! Living in the ‘Badlands’ of Night City (the outskirts in the desert shown on the previous stream), nothing is more important than family and the bonds you’ve grown with.

    “MY FAMILY’S IN PIECES…”

Let’s not forget though - all roads lead to Night City. Without us knowing what’s happened in your clan, you know it’s time to leave the Badlands behind and head towards the bright lights… I think this is where my lifepath in Cyberpunk 2077 will begin.

Corpo kicks off as you’d imagine - bumping shoulders with power in high-rise towers. Remember that the higher you go, the higher the stakes. The pressures of the boardroom here won’t get you fired, they’ll get you killed.

“IF YOU WORK IN ARASAKA COUNTER-INTEL… YOU’RE ALWAYS F**KED.”

Your origin will determine how you’re able to react in situations. Knowledge can give you the upper hand but can also hinder your experience in difficult situations. Where does your story begin? We hope this’ll help you decide ahead of launch!

    CUE THE MUSIC…

The show goes on! And while we’re on the topic of show business, no video game is complete without the music that sets its tone. We’re told to expect more info on radio stations and the original score in future Night City Wire episodes, but right now - we’re delving into the creativity of ‘Refused’, their transformation in-game and the music written for Johnny Silverhand’s band ‘Samurai’. That’s Keanu Reeves to you and I!

It shows the levels of detail that CD Projekt Red have gone to in order to give these characters not just a story, but an identity. The good news is that there are now 4 Samurai tracks available on streaming services for you to get your ears around! Be sure to check them out and let us know what you think.

    TOOLS OF DESTRUCTION!

A good workman or woman is nothing without them. It’s a good thing then that Cyberpunk will have some serious firepower for you to get the job done - however big. A vast array from guns to melee weapons have been unveiled and some of them are pretty jaw-dropping. From Smart Weapons like ‘Mantis Arms’ to Tech Weapons like the ‘Tsunami Nekomata’… What are you choosing? A lot will depend on your style of play. So if stealth is your wealth or if you’re 12-gauging for a-blazin’, either way there’s fun to be had. Weapons are ranked in classes and the higher up you go, their rarity and power increases. Body modifications aren’t the only thing on the menu either as weapon mods are also confirmed for you to arm yourself up to the nines. Kill your way.

We’re told that as our character ‘V’ progresses in-game, he’ll grow in experience from small time mercenary to a legend of Night City. Accuracy will increase as well as reloading times and movement with his weapon. All will be sure to help his chances of overcoming some pretty huge challenges in this sprawling world.

And that concludes the second episode of Cyberpunk’s 2077 Night City Wire. A load of new info for us to get our heads around before being let loose on the 19th of November. We’ll be back to cover Episode 3 of course but until then…
