WHAT DOES RACING MEAN TO YOU?
I’m going back to 1998 to answer that. I still remember the first time I played Gran Turismo. So does my Father! As he unwillingly let me have one go, all the while impatiently fidgeting his way through my race before swiping back the controller. My Dad’s a good man, it’s just his obsession with racing games meant an obscene level of console-hogging at our house. Don’t even get me started on Toca Touring Cars.
It’s crazy to think that on 4th March 2022, we’ll be getting the 7th instalment in the Gran Turismo series. As you’ll know, it’s a franchise with an extraordinarily vast fanbase, covering all ages and walks of life. As a PlayStation gamer, if you’re into your cars then you’re into GT.
So what can we expect? Realism in gaming is something we all take for granted these days. We’re so spoiled when it comes to advancements that games need to be so much more than just “looking great” to have an impact. Well, the use of the DualSense 5 Controller’s haptic feedback is where we believe this goes to the next level. The example of wheel vibration from understeering that’s given in this new trailer above, the true feel of the vehicle as it holds the road or loses its line, the difference between spinning out and success… The margins will have never been smaller and yet, more controllable.

You don’t just get behind the wheel of this baby and become the star of the show. From what’s mentioned above, only those who graft will become knowledgeable about the cars, their mechanisms and what makes them tick to achieve the ultimate drive. The more you play, the more you know, and the better you perform. Sounds logical right? That’s cute. You know this is not for the average Sunday driver.
