1. GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY - REVIEW ROUNDUP!

We fire up for a wild ride tomorrow alongside this band of unlikely heroes in a fresh take on Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy!

These comical favourites have their very own game and in it, we are Star-Lord! Some jerk (surely not us but yes, absolutely us) has set off a chain of catastrophic events that will lead to total interplanetary meltdown… Oops.

Truth be told, this is a title that may have some of you questioning if it’s worth your time. What with the very mixed response to Marvel’s Avengers, is it a bit of a minefield? Well, we’ve compiled the best of the big name reviews for you below and we’re confident it’s what you need to do the deed!

    You got this. Probably…

    IGN - 8/10

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy nicely balances a goofy, action-filled adventure with some genuinely heartfelt story moments, and the choices you’re given can add some surprising personal twists to your particular playthrough. Its combat and level design are relatively simple if still consistently entertaining, but it’s the relationships and banter between its characters that keep everything fresh as they evolve. It isn’t going to set the world on fire, but Guardians of the Galaxy is still another convincing example of how much fun a linear, no-frills, single-player campaign can be.

    HardcoreGamer - 4.5/5

The lock-on could be better, and some of Peter’s abilities could be better rebalanced to suit the level design. Still, the gameplay is otherwise an excellent blend of third-person shooting and strategy. It’s undoubtedly a beautiful game to explore thanks to top-notch artistic design, and it’s even better to listen to thanks to a strong soundtrack filled with ’80s hits and original tunes. Technical issues do crop up, but the recent patch released by Eidos Montreal has smoothed over many of our concerns. Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is a great game that does the Guardians proud, so grab your Elemental Blasters, strap in and get ready to rock.

    Polygon - Recommends

Life can be isolating, and I’ve turned to many video games to make friends and help me keep in touch with real-life loved ones around the country or — over the past year — just around the corner. Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy won’t fool you into thinking you’re having those same, genuine social interactions with people you care about. But to Eidos Montreal’s great credit, the Guardians give a convincing performance.I always expected to jet around blasting aliens in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. But its new place as one of the more emotionally resonant video game stories in recent memory easily makes it 2021’s best surprise.

    GamesRadar - 4/5

Whisper it… Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy game might be better than the movies. It’s incredibly rare for a game to make me laugh as much as it does cry, but what Eidos Montreal has created here is something rather magical, both in terms of its story and its execution. Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is a game where you embody everything it is to be a leader, including all the doubts and insecurities that come with it.

    GodIsAGeek - 8/10

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is a wonderful surprise. I expected to like it, but after the credits rolled, I wanted to jump back in and play it all over again. The writing is wonderful. The characterisation is spot on from what I’m used to seeing in the comics, and even fans of the MCU will appreciate the similarities. The combat is consistently fun, evolving with every new chapter. I’d love to see more of this world from Eidos Montreal in the future. It’s a solid start that has plenty of potential for future releases, but this alone is going to please a lot of people. It’s flarking great!

    PlayStationUniverse - 9.5/10

Eidos Montreal has crafted one of the best superhero games to date. Their attention to world-building and characterization should be followed by many studios to come. The Exciting combat, which blends action RPG elements with strategic player commands, and breathtaking visuals and animations, is something to behold. But what truly sets this title apart is the fantastic writing, not just for the Guardians themselves, but for every character you come across. If you weren’t a fan of the franchise before, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy might just change your mind.
