1. LORD OF THE RING-RING(S)!

Are you a hobbit-ual mobile gamer? How about a fan of all things LOTR? Then we have precious news in our pocketses…

A press release from EA yesterday has confirmed that we’re getting a new Lord of the Rings game this year! Launching solely for mobile, The Lord of the Rings: Heroes of Middle-earth will be a “collectible role-playing game” that will no doubt have us glued to our phones when the beta rolls out in numerous regions over the summer!

This free-to-play adventure is being developed by EA’s Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes studio, Capital Games, so we’d say it’s in safe hands! Its promise of a “strategic, social-competitive experience” as well as “immersive storytelling, turn-based combat, deep collection systems, and a wide roster of characters” are enough to say its making the right noises! Given the success of Galaxy of Heroes, this will likely have all the ingredients for the same longevity and the growth of a loyal community!

EA has a rich history with LOTR after all… The Return of the King on Nintendo GameCube brings back some happy memories as a type this. However, Heroes of Middle-earth is “the first mobile game developed by EA, inspired by storylines, locations, characters, and lore from The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit literary works.”

Sit tight for more news as it drops, and make sure you upgrade to unlimited data on your phone contract! We have a feeling you’re going to need it.

One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them, One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them.
