1. ‘Mario + Rabbids: Sparks Of Hope’ - Review Roundup!

Returning with a shimmer after the success of 2017′s release (can you believe it’s been 5 years?!) this group of oddly thrown together heroes are not here for zeros when it comes to review scores! So, what’s the story? Well…

Cursa, a mysterious and malevolent entity has sought out energy from the innocent Sparks to further its nefarious plans, plunging the galaxy into chaos! In order to save them from becoming the catalyst to destruction, Mario and friends must team up with Rabbids once again!

Before you make the starry jump into a fight for the ages, there’s no need to go trawling through all those review site pages… We’ve compiled the best of the big names for you below:

    IGN - 9/10

Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope takes the excellent tactical combat ideas of Kingdom Battle and runs absolutely wild with them. Its goofy characters still have the ability to bounce off of each other, but they’re now free of the rigid grid and wonderfully customizable thanks to the mix-and-match Sparks that give them new and reliably interesting powers.

    GodIsAGeek - 8/10

Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope is one of those sequels that improves on the original in almost every way. But it’s important to note that I said “almost”, there. The difficulty curve is far better than in Kingdom Battle, there’s a deeper, more interesting RPG system at the core, and overall exploration is just better. In fact, bar a few issues, it’s difficult to avoid saying that Sparks of Hope is pretty much a triumphant return of the Mario + Rabbids mashup that still seems like an impossible thing that even exists.

I’ve finished the campaign but I’m still ploughing through side quests, the best of which give you a really interesting battlefield encounter to pick away at. I imagine I’ll be playing Sparks of Hope over the next few months the way I still play XCOM, which is to say I treat it something like the daily Wordle - a quick battle here and there as I wait for the oven to heat or the bath to run.

    NintendoLife - 8/10

An extra couple of notches on the difficulty meter might have forced us to experiment and dig deeper to find winning strategies. However, Sparks of Hope shines in most aspects outside of these Darkmess bouts. Delightful little puzzles, quests, and memorable locales abound, which yet make this Rabbid-themed adventure a must-play for Mario and strategy game enthusiasts alike.

    GamesRadar - 4.5/5

Overall, Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope is brilliant, silly, and really strategic (if you want it to be). Battles are complex, rewarding, and regularly very clever, which allows Mario + Rabbids to continue holding its own amongst the best strategy games out there. And with a whole host of post-launch content already confirmed, including our old pal Rayman, Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope clearly has a bright future ahead.

    Polygon - Recommends

That Sparks of Hope finds such harmony between strategic depth, cartoonish magnetism, and a fair amount of comedy (yes, as long as we’re being honest here, I think the Rabbids are funny) is no small accomplishment. If Kingdom Battle stood on the shoulders of giants, Sparks of Hope leaps off of them and into an arena all unto its own. It’s an excellent tactics game, by all means. But it’s also a confident Mario adventure in its own right.

Few would argue that Ubisoft have not one but TWO Tactical RPG gems in their catalogue on the back of these reviews! Of course you’ll form your own opinions this Thursday at launch, but Mario + Rabbids are back to once again win hearts and this time, save sparks!
