1. “COULD SHE REALLY BE HERE… WAITING FOR ME?”

Last night’s Silent Hill transmission brought us updates galore on a franchise that has been uhh, well, sorry but… “Silent” for the longest time. 2014 to be exact. From what we could see online and based off our customer response via social channels, fans had set expectations pretty low ahead of the event. This of course makes what we got given THAT much sweeter!

What we thought was going to be a live show ended up being a 48 minute video instead, but you’ll hear no complaints from us here!

We’re focusing our love and attention on the heavily rumoured Silent Hill 2 Remake that came through the fog and onto our screens at long last! In spite of the reservations from this hugely dedicated fanbase regarding Polish studio Bloober Team’s involvement, the trailer looks stunning. BT of course have a little bit of a patchy background in the horror genre with hit and miss performances on previous titles like ‘The Medium’. Whether such a huge remake should be in their hands will remain to be seen… But it’s an unenviable task, we’ll say that!

“In my restless dreams… I see that town.”

And so have we. On the back of supreme survival horror remakes like Resident Evil 2 & Alan Wake, we undoubtedly speak for many when we say that we’ve waited a long time for Silent Hill to make a next gen appearance. The potential is almost TOO much! We hope that Bloober Team can handle it…

The game will be a timed PS5 console exclusive whilst also making an appearance on Steam for PC gamers. This period will run for a year before hitting Xbox and we’d imagine, Game Pass!

No release date was confirmed which is a little disappointing! If we had to take a guess we’d say late 2023 but we wouldn’t be shocked at early 2024… Still, we can’t be too greedy when we’re finally getting what many regard as the greatest survival horror game of all time on next gen! More updates on this as and when it drops.

    Silent Hill f

Crazy really… We spend almost 10 Silent Hill-barren years waiting for something, ANYTHING, even at some points leaning on other games (Abandoned) with conspiracy theories of Hideo Kojima’s next crack at the series! And then we’re hit with nearly 50 mins of so much Silent Hill goodness that we don’t know what to do with it!

The above and titled Silent Hill f will be a completely new story set in 1960’s Japan featuring a beautiful, yet horrifying world. A young girl explores an eerie town, empty and alone. Constricting floral reeds begin to appear and bind as she fights (and fails) to break free. We see her, transformed by these supernatural events into a floral (or perhaps fungal) hybrid that ends with… Her face falling off. Silent Hill, ladies and gents.

Written by Ryūkishi07, famed for Japanese visual novels dealing with murder mysteries, psychological and supernatural horror - This may have peaked our interest even more than Silent Hill 2. What a way to end the show! Much like the aforementioned, no release date confirmed but we’d imagine we’ll see a lot more gameplay and solid info in early 2023.

    Return to Silent Hill

Other announcements included a movie sequel to the 2006 original that starred Sean Bean. Konami assistant producer Rui Naito has stated that it’s actually been the “catalyst” to this new wave of Silent Hill games that we’ve got on the way. Check out the teaser here!

    Silent Hill: Townfall

Lastly, there’s the above game co-produced by Annapurna Interactive (Stray) and multiple BAFTA award winning No Code Studios (Stories Untold, Observation). Very little was revealed but its mysterious trailer has got us all talking… On a walkie-talkie of all things! Check out the teaser here!

All good things come to those who wait - and this fanbase have waited. We’re now, at a guess, within a year of an array of Silent Hill releases and enthusiasts around the globe can rejoice as they say out loud:

“Well, I’m alone there now, in our special place… waiting for you.”

Eyes peeled for more updates, TGCollectors! It’s a fun time for Survival Horror…
