Sounds like you’ve started off with some great choices! Welcome to the Castle side of tumblr!!
Trust me, the Castle side is the only side. I’ve been on it for about a year. Couldn’t handle all the Castle feels on my dash so didn’t follow a lot of people. But new year so…
This is why Castle is my favorite show. In every episode Castle is always Castle. If you watch the show then you know what I mean. You see a lot of Nathan Fillion in Castle. So, naturally, Castle is funny and slightly off his rocker (in a good way, he’s not crazy or anything). He’s refreshing. When compared to Beckett in the series, he is the class clown and she’s the straight A student. They work good together. Occasionally the two have swapped roles. Like when Beckett played jokes on him when he was being superstitious about a curse in season two. She rigged his chair to fall apart. She had the bomb squad rig the coffee machine to be all noise with no harm. And she loved doing it. My personal favorite was the episode “The Lives of Others”. For those who don’t know, Beckett set up a whole escapade in the neighboring apartment complex while Castle was cooped up in the house. She made him believe he witnessed a murder and that she was next. Sounds awful actually. But, the actual episode isn’t as cruel sounding. It’s actually sweet and shows how much she cares for him. She never would have done that for anybody else. Let me take a moment to say Stana Katic. I had never heard her name before I watched Castle. And I am sorry that’s the case. She is wonderful. I’ve seen her in interviews and videos of her signing autographs and I’ve seen what other people who have met her have said about Stana. Nothing has been negative. She is someone that you could have a real conversation with in the subway. (I don’t live near a subway so I guess I’m assuming some people actually converse on subways.)
Back to the show.
Castle draws me in every week and some people wonder how I can watch a show over and over again. But there are so many references and little jokes that make you want to watch. You could rewatch an episode three times and still get something out of it. But the show would be nothing without the writers and, of course, Andrew Marlowe. They do a fantastic job. They kind of shook things up for awhile, you know, the season six finale and season seven premiere. But, they have been kind. They have done a show that has run for seven seasons. I hope it would run for seven more, but every episode is a gift. So if the show ends after this season or continues driving ahead, I’m here for the ride.
Now, I have to mention that above all, a show does not last if the cast do not have an off the camera chemistry. We may not always see it, but we know it’s there. They do not always hang out or anything, they are at their jobs and like many, probably like to keep the job and their personal life separate. But watch the bloopers for the seasons and you will see, they are friends.
I don’t know how they did it but they did. They have created a show that I actually like and want to watch every day. If I had a long day, I want to watch Castle. If something good happened, I want to watch Castle. You get the point.
In a side note, I feel that TV networks don’t give new shows a chance. Don’t get me started on Firefly and Fox. But honestly, a show needs more than a few episode ratings and more advertising before you pull the plug.
And I’m glad that ABC stuck it out with Castle (whatever the ratings were in the beginning). They struck gold. And as Castle said to to Beckett, “If you don’t believe in even the possibility of magic you’ll never find it”. So thanks Andrew Marlowe, the castle crew, and of course the other giddy Castle fans (besides me) who believed.
I spent the rest of the day making distractions. Cleaning the pantry, washing my clothes, organizing the shoe rack, mopping the floors, buying things I don’t need off of Amazon, watching mindless movies… going thru the junk mail even. And now I sit here after staying up so late, and your memory still caught me. Still found me in my one moment of relaxation. Still made me realize how much lighter and brighter to me the world felt, how much easier it was to laugh when you were rotating on the same earth with me and not flying amongst the stars.
Tomorrow will be two months without you…
I just wanted you to know, I don’t let many people fully know me… and you knew me. You were there making memories with me for the entirety of my life. And the number of memories I recall about my life will continue to grow as I make more of them, but they will all be missing a big aspect of my life… and I will always find myself missing you.
You were my peace. I felt secure, loved, seen, heard, valued, and understood when your presence was in the same room with me. Now I feel lost and broken knowing you’ve left this world… Simply put, I lost my peace when we all lost you. I think of this very often and I oh so wholeheartedly hope that thru this experience, you’ve been able to find yours. Love you so much friend, and I miss you with all that I have.
