Title: A Little Too Late Part 37

Your eyes fluttered open the next morning.  As you took your first breath of the new day, you could smell the scent of a familiar cologne.  You looked up to see Gabriel smiling down at you.  Your eyes looked over his wings.  There was a piece of candy in one of his feathers.  

A groggy laugh escaped your lips as you rubbed the sleep from your eyes.  “Good morning Gabriel,” you spoke softly.

“Morning [Y/N],” Gabriel replied.  “Did you sleep well?”  

“Never slept better,” you responded.  Gabriel watched your hand as you reached for his wings.  You didn’t know how sensitive angel wings were.  He didn’t want to stop you, but he didn’t want you to be weirded out either.  “You’ve got a piece of candy stuck to your feathers.”

Gabriel looked away and bit his bottom lip as you plucked the piece of candy delicately from his feathers.  When he turned to look back at you, he noticed you were holding the piece of candy out to him.  “You’re not expecting me to eat that are you [Y/N],” Gabriel asked.

“I dare you, unless you’re a chicken,” you joked, a small giggle exiting your lips.

“I’m an archangel, not a chicken,” Gabriel corrected.  Gabriel took the piece of candy from your hand and threw it into his mouth.  It took him a few minutes, but he swallowed it.  “Yuck!  I have pieces of feather in my mouth.”

You laughed, rolling out of the bed and hitting the floor.  Gabriel soon joined you in laughter as he poked his head over the side of your bed.  “Nice going [Y/N],” Gabriel teased.

There was a knock on your bedroom door that interrupted yours and Gabriel’s laughter.  “[Y/N],” Sam called out before entering your room.  He raised an eyebrow at Gabriel who was still on your bed.  “Where’s my sister Gabriel?”

Gabriel jabbed his thumb in your direction.  “[Y/N] laughed so hard that she fell off the bed,” Gabriel noted.  “Don’t worry she’s fine.”

You stood up, dusting yourself off.  “What’s up Sammy,” you asked, putting your hands on your hips.

Sam stepped aside as Dean came inside you room  “[Y/N], why did Lucifer bring a vampire into our bunker,” Dean asked, irritation evident in his voice.

You rubbed the back of your neck nervously.  “I didn’t mean for him to bring her here,” you informed them.  “All I did was ask Lucifer to find my mom.  She might be able to help us.  What if she’s not as bad as-.”

“Absolutely not,” Dean protested.  “A vampire is never going to help a hunter.  Just because she’s your mom, doesn’t mean she’s willing to help you.”  Dean’s expression softened when he saw a frown forming on your face.  “Look [Y/N], all I’m saying is that she’s not the same person she used to be.  She’s a monster now.”

“What about Benny,” you asked.  “Was he a monster too?”

That’s when Sam stepped in to end this before it got started.  “Enough,” Sam chimed in.  “I think it’s fair that we give her mom a chance.  Lucifer, Gabriel, or Cas would be able to tell if she was lying, right?”  Sam shrugged, sticking his hands into his jean pockets.  “I think we should see what she has to say.  Maybe she wants to stop what’s going on.”

Dean rolled his eyes, exhaling heavily.  “Fine,” Dean sighed.  “If she’s lying, I think we should kill her.”

“Dean,” Sam scolded.  “Not cool dude.  That’s still [Y/N]’s mom.”

“No Sam,” you interjected.  “Dean’s right.  If she doesn’t want to stop this vampire steroid fest thing, I think we should kill her.”  It hurt for you to say these words, but the hunter in you knew it was the right thing to do.  “Just don’t let me be around for that.  It’s not something I would want to see.”

Sam nodded.  The younger Winchester brother glared at Dean.  “We’ll wait in the hallway,” Dean muttered, tapping Sam’s arm.  

As your brothers left the room, you opened your dresser drawers.  You took out the long sleeve black t-shirt that Balthazar had gotten for you years ago.  You laid the shirt on the bed as you slipped off your pajamas.  

“You still miss him don’t you [Y/N],” Gabriel mumbled.

“Yeah,” you answered in a soft voice.  “Do you miss him Gabriel?”

“I’m not gonna lie sugar, he was a funny guy,” Gabriel answered.  “I’m gonna miss having him around.  He always had a good story to tell.  He had some crazy stories you wouldn’t believe.”

You shimmied into your jeans, turning around to grab your shirt.  “It’s nice to know that after everything you’ve all been through, that you can still have good times together,” you smiled, pulling your shirt over your head.  As soon as you were dressed and ready for the day, you grabbed Gabriel’s hand.  You noticed he seemed somewhat surprised by your actions.  “Is everything alright Gabriel?  You don’t mind me holding your hand, do you?”

Gabriel shook his head, a smirk spreading across his lips.  “Of course not [Y/N],” Gabriel beamed.  Gabriel hopped off of your bed, making sure that he folded his wings as close to him as possible.  Gabriel’s wings reflected light, even the smallest amount of light make them shine and sparkle.

“Gabriel, I have a quick question before we leave this room,” you whispered, making sure that Sam nor Dean could hear you.

“I have may have a quick answer [Y/N],” Gabriel quipped.

“What happens when I choose who I want to be with forever,” you inquired.  “Say I choose you.  What will happen to Lucifer and Castiel?”

“Nothing really,” Gabriel replied.  “It’s more like, what will they do afterwards, when you’ve chosen your suitor.  Hopefully Lucifer sticks around.  If he truly loved you, he wouldn’t hurt Sam or Dean, or you for that matter.  Castiel will always be around, and he’ll probably always love you.”  Gabriel looked at his feet for a few seconds before his amber eyes met yours.  “If you don’t choose me, I’ll still be around.  I’ll always love you [Y/N].  I know things between us haven’t been great lately, but I still have the same feelings for you as I did before.  You can’t get rid of me that easily.”

You huffed out a laugh, pressing a kiss to Gabriel’s cheek.  “I admire your good sportsmanship,” you hummed.  “We can talk more later if you want.  I’m sure Sam and Dean are getting impatient.”

Gabriel didn’t mind that you still walked along the hallway with your hand still in his.  It felt pleasant.  It reminded him of how things were before.  For once, he felt like things were going to be okay.  

As the two of you edged closer to the library you could see Castiel and Lucifer’s wings poking into the hallway.  Once you rounded the corner, all eyes were on you, including your mother’s.  Your mother got up from her seat slowly as her eyes scanned over your body.  

“[Y/N], it’s really you,” she breathed.  “I never thought I would see my baby girl again.”

Tears welled in your eyes as she padded up to you, wrapping her arms around you.  This was the first hug you and your mother had ever shared.  You didn’t care that she was a vampire.  Nothing could ever make you hate your mother.  

“Hi mom,” you croaked, tears spilling over your cheeks.
