The rain pelted your clothes as you sat on the curb outside your house.  You weren’t sure where you were going to go.  Your family had always been strict with their religion and their rules.  You didn’t mean to upset them with your opinion.  Apparently having an opinion was earned in your home.  You realized this a little too late.

Tears streamed down your face as you sat in the rain.  It didn’t matter what happened, you now had nowhere to live, nowhere to eat, and nowhere to bathe.  This had to be one of the worst days of your life.

“Religion can be so complicated,” an unfamiliar voice uttered, as a tall man towered over you.  His hair was blond and his eyes were blue.  He was wearing jeans and a brown shirt with a green over shirt on top of it.  “I broke too many rules once.  My father kicked me out too.”

“Does he still love you,” you sniffled, your voice cracking slightly.  “I feel like my whole family has abandoned me.  All because I said something that went against our religion.”

“Dare to be different [Y/N],” the man spoke in a low, but calm voice.

Your eyes darted to the man before you.  How did he know your name?  You had never seen him before.  “How do you know my name,” you questioned.  “Who are you?”

“I’m Lucifer, the archangel,” Lucifer announced confidently.  “Technically I’m a fallen angel, but an angel nevertheless.”

“You’re Lucifer,” you inquired, almost losing the ability to breathe.  “No way.”

“Of course I am,” Lucifer scoffed.  “How would I know your name if I wasn’t Lucifer?  I was watching over you because I could see that you were different.  Humans who are different are often regarded as rejects.  Not to me though.”  Lucifer tapped a finger to his chin as he studied you.  “This isn’t the first time you’ve disagreed with their views is it [Y/N]?”

You shook your head, a single tear falling from your eye.  “No,” you spoke in a small voice.  “I have different views on the world compared to the rest of my family.  I guess I broke that last straw with them.  Now I have nowhere to go.  I don’t even know why I’m telling you any of this.”

“It’s okay to be different [Y/N],” Lucifer mumbled, grabbing your bag from the ground.  “Walk with me.  I’ve got just the place for you to go.”  He knew you would follow him.  What choice did you have?

You stood up, taking one last look at the place you used to call home.  You walked with the fallen archangel, taking small glimpses here and there.  He was attractive for an archangel.  The subtle stubble on his face was more apparent now that you were closer to him.

“Can I ask you a question,” you spoke up after a few minutes of silence.

“What’s that angel,” Lucifer asked, peering over at you.

“Why do you care about me so much,” you questioned.  “I mean I was told that the devil hated all of humanity.  But you’re willing to help me, why?”

“Humanity doesn’t like me [Y/N], and I don’t particularly like them either,” Lucifer stated flatly, rolling his eyes.  “Well…  Except for those people who summon goats and shit for me.  It’s annoying and messy.  I could do without them liking me.  They are dedicated people though.”

You laughed, catching Lucifer’s glare.  Your cheeks flushed red as you averted your eyes.  “Well you don’t sound like a bad guy to me Lucifer,” you shrugged, flashing a feeble smile at the fallen archangel.

“You don’t sound like a terrible human either,” Lucifer smirked.  He knew you weren’t just different in your views from your family.  You were always meant for this life.  He wasn’t the one who was supposed to be here, but he felt that it was right for him to be there.  After killing Gabriel, he wanted to make sure someone like you would be okay.

Lucifer glanced over at you as you blindly walked beside him.  Why did you trust him?  After he told you who he was, he thought you would run away from him.  “[Y/N] are you not afraid of me,” Lucifer asked all of a sudden.  “Usually Satan leaves a bad taste in people’s mouths.”

“I’m not like my family,” you sighed.  “I don’t judge people by their past.  What matters is what you’re doing now.  Everyone makes bad choices.”  You ran a hand through your dampened hair, hugging your jacket against your body.  “Besides, you haven’t given me a reason to hate you.”

I won’t ever hurt you, Lucifer swore to himself.  I’ll always protect you [Y/N].  It’s what Gabriel would have wanted.  No one will ever hurt you, I won’t let them.  “I don’t intend to give you a reason to hate me,” Lucifer muttered.  “Now there are a couple things you should know [Y/N].  Those things that people tell stories about, are real.  Vampires, demons, werewolves, angels, they’re real.”

“Okay,” you replied, your tone sounding a little more awkward than intended.  “Why do I need to know that?”

“You’ll be in the safest place in the world,” Lucifer continued.  “Along with the most dangerous, but caring brothers known to creation.  I should know, I once possessed the younger one, Sam Winchester.  It’s a long story and I can tell you some other time.”

“Whoa you possessed someone,” you marveled, your eyes growing wide as you looked at the fallen archangel.

“Yes, but there’s more,” Lucifer added, holding his index finger in the air.  “They’re hunters.  They don’t like me, and they won’t trust me at first.  I’m sure you’ll get them to trust me, but it’ll be a few years from now.  Anyway, they hunt those things I told you about, and more.  You can trust them, even if I don’t.”

“Will I ever see you again,” you inquired, suddenly feeling disappointed.  “I would like to.  Even if they don’t like you, I do.  I would wanna see you.”

“I’ll come around when they aren’t there [Y/N],” Lucifer reassured you.  “I’ll even come to you when you pray for me.  However, I need you to promise me something in return.”

“What is it,” you asked, quirking an eyebrow.

“Promise me you’ll stay in the bunker and research for them.  No hunting,” Lucifer requested.  “I can protect you and take you places when you need to get out of the bunker.  However, I can’t come and protect you if you are around Sam and Dean.  They’ll kill me, and then I can’t protect you.”

“Fair enough,” you agreed.  “I’ll do it.  Just promise me you’ll be careful too.  Being Lucifer, doesn’t exactly sound safe to me.”  When you looked around, you noticed you weren’t in your home town anymore.  “Where am I?”

“Lebanon, Kansas,” Lucifer informed you.  “That door over there is where you wanna go.  Knock on that door.  Dean Winchester is the older brother, Sam Winchester is the taller, but younger brother, and Castiel is the angel.  Tell them Gabriel told you to go here on this exact date.  Castiel will be able to vouch for you.”  Lucifer held your duffle bag out to you.  He almost didn’t wanna let you go, but he had no choice.  You were safer here.  You would have been safer with Gabriel, but that wasn’t an option either.

You wrapped your arms around the fallen archangel.  It confused Lucifer that you would hug him.  However, he had this odd feeling inside of him; love.  In the short time he knew you, he had fallen in love with you.  He felt that someone should have warned him about you.  Nevertheless, he returned your hug, resting his chin on your head.

“If you need me tonight, pray [Y/N],” Lucifer whispered.  “I’ll come to you, I promise.”

“What if Sam and Dean are there,” you questioned.  “I thought you weren’t going to come around when they were there.”

“I’ll give them a case,” Lucifer mused, a slightly devious smirk spreading across his lips.  He took a step back, putting the handles of your bag in your hand.  “If they ask about Gabriel, just tell him that you met him when he called himself the Trickster.  Castiel will know you are lying, but they won’t.  Castiel knows who you are already.  Don’t worry about him.”

“Thank you Lucifer,” you smiled, leaning on your tiptoes so you could press a kiss to his cheek.  You turned around and walked away from the fallen archangel.

You waved at Lucifer, watching him suddenly disappear.  You exhaled heavily, knocking on the metal door.  When it opened, a man in a trench coat first looked past you, and then at you.

“You must be [Y/N],” Castiel murmured.  “I am sorry that Gabriel couldn’t be there, but Lucifer did keep his promise.  I’ll explain everything to Sam and Dean.  You’ll be okay here.”

“You must be the angel, Castiel,” you guessed, brushing past him.  “It’s nice to meet you.  I hope Sam and Dean are as nice as you and Lucifer.”

After getting settled in at the bunker, Sam and Dean let you get used to your new room.  They had already showed you where everything was, including the dungeon.  You only hoped things would get better from here.  You hoped to see Lucifer soon.  You already missed him.  You didn’t know it, but he missed you too.
