I hope it’s okay for me to interrupt the Japan series with this outfit post. The latest Voodoo Vixen offering for spring/summer has really gotten me excited, and I really want to show it to you before they run out of the different sizes. One of my favorite pieces has to be this lovely Heather Dress. I don’t wear light colors much as I think I wear bold colors better, but I was feeling rather adventurous. And honestly I couldn’t go past the lace details on the collar bone. The lace isn’t actually transparent and is backed with light creme, but the dress itself is a little on the sheer side. While you do not need a nude slip underneath you might want to avoid dark colored undergarment.
You might find it weird that I think this dress reminds me of a 60s-does-20s-style. It might be the way I styled it with the hat. While the hat itself is an original 40s, it somehow looked like a flapper cloche instead when paired with this dress. Might be because I’ve been swooning over 20s and 30s styles a bit more lately. My friend Deco Darling does these decades really well and I think she’ll agree that this dress is a fantastic nod to the 20s tea dresses.
What makes me think this is a 60s-style dress is obviously the buttons, the darts, and the lovely oversized pockets. I just know that this dress will be a great addition to everybody’s wardrobe. It’s rather multifunctional - it’s perfect for girly dates, first dates, work outfits, and even bridesmaid dresses. I don’t think I’ve seen that many dresses that can be so versatile! I went for a size small for my 32-25-37 measurements, and while this dress was a bit blousy on me (which I love) I had to take in the belt to properly cinch the waist. I’m really annoyed that in some of these pictures the belt was twisted though - which also reminds me to tell you that the belt is a fabric belt but is not backed.
It was the perfect dress to wear with my new Winston the Westie earrings. I have really amassed a collection of Erstwilder in the past few months - I have really fallen head over heels for their designs and they are perfect for me. I don’t wear bracelets or necklaces much, but somehow I really love earrings and brooches! This Winston the Westie earrings are perfect for every day wear - it’s small and darling and goes with a lot of different outfits. I love a touch of cute in all my outfits but I think Winston will make any dull outfits more exciting. And hey, Winston makes a fantastic low-maintenance pet.
