Trot this image out every time one of his people makes a crack about age.
Add it to a comment on every news story about him.
Show the word he is not who he says he is.
... how is that REMOTELY a shitty character idea??
White Collar
You’re right and you should say it.
How did you choose your url?
It's a fandom url.
It's a play on my name or my actual name.
It's not a fandom url, but it's related to something I love.
It's just random letters or words.
It's a phrase or an anagram.
I didn't pick it. Someone else did.
I didn't pick it. It was randomly generated.
None of these options fit. I'll tell you in the tags.
The old school lack of transparency on tumblr is amazing because you assume the people you follow must all be equivalent to you and then you see someone write “I brought my youngest to college today” and someone else write “my mom wouldn’t let me listen to Ariana Grande when I was a kid” and then your head explodes
and we need that! keeps us humble.
Then I'm just like WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU’RE AN ADULT
It goes the other way, too, because WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU'RE A CHILD?!!
I'm 16, that's like, barely a child
I'm in my 30s. You are baby
I'm older than both of you in a trenchcoat.
honestly one of the best things we can do for ourselves is realize that people of different ages than us can still be the same kind of person as us. it's humbling and it gives everyone involved a sense of continuity, and it busts those stupid generational stereotypes media is so fond of.
Our fandom forbearers did NOT suffer through Anne Rice, strikethrough, and other bullshit for fucking ACOTAR and Harry Potter fans to fucking ruin it for all of us by selling fanfiction. I am not losing novel length yaoi epics because some of you don't know how to act in fannish spaces and yes I do blame the booktokification of fanfic but I also blame those of you that treat fandom like content to consume and not a community to engage with.
if you commission fanfiction you deserve a c&d that will make you lose your home btw.
We diverge a little on that. For me? Commissions should be kept on the DL. Keep it out of ao3, keep it hidden, and keep fandom safe.
But do NOT sell other people's fic or bookbindings or whatever. A hardback of your own fic printed to book and sold at cost to a few friends? Sure. Pretty etsy print job aesthetic of popular fics sold for profit? Oh FUCK NO!
As an aspiring author/worldbuilder myself, I’m planning on putting out at least an encyclopedia under CC-BY-NC, meaning fan works are legally permitted as long as attribution is preserved and no money is made. And here’s where I draw the line:
- If you are selling your time, it is okay. Someone wants to pay you to write the rarepair that I’ve told you just isn’t happening? Sure. You paid someone to draw your OC arm wrestling my OC? You do you. Pay an Etsy seller to hand-bind the High School AU you love so much? Okay. If money changes hands so that the thing can exist, I may not like it but I’m not going to C&D over it. That being said…
- If you are selling the thing, it is not okay. If your fanfic is behind a Patreon? Selling prints of that fanart? Listing that hand-bound fanfic in said Etsy shop? Not without permission you’re not.
But here’s the thing: that’s just me. I discovered writing because of fandom; I want it to thrive. But My Little Pony isn’t under a free license. There’s no legal guarantee that any fan-works—free OR paid—are legal. And the more people being money into the equation, the more likely it is that Ha$bro decides to try pulling a D&D and monetize the WHOLE apparatus by going after everyone.
Don’t sell fanfic. Just don’t.
you have the opportunity to go to dinner with one tumblr celebrity, who do you invite?
Neil Gaiman
Wil Wheaton
Lynda Carter
Chuck Tingle
Diane Duane
Other (in the tags)
Okay but what if we somehow all got together and played a tabletop game.
Instead of dinner or as well as dinner?
When you put it that way, it does seem a little foolish to go to all the trouble to get together and not share a meal, as well.
I don’t even care if it’s macaroni, ramen or those little bowls you stick in the microwave. Please, I need reassurance that most of the population on tumblr WOULDN’T STARVE TO DEATH if their parents couldn’t fix them food or they couldn’t go out to eat.
