From my songbook diary - wrote these lyrics as a poem one night. Put it to music a couple of months later while composing on the piano and voila! A new song was born. I love all the random influences I drew from for this one - The Beatles, Christina Aguilera and maybe even a little bit of The Gorillaz? LOL I’d like to say I’m an optimistic person in general but this song is probably my sub conscious telling me I drink too much, haha!
GLASS HALF FULL
Verse:
The glass is half full
Now I do what I want
Yeah I’ll drink to that
’Til every drop is gone
Watch the sunrise again
‘Cause it’s the weekend
Raise my rose colored glass
To a brand new day
Chorus:
Empty slate
Thoughts erased
Can’t feel like a fool
When you’re shit faced
The glass is half full
(Ahhhhh)
The glass is half full
(Ahhhhh)
Verse:
The glass is half full
Yeah that’s my point of view
Forgetting is better
When it comes to you
So fill up my cup
It’s all I wanna do
Figured out that you leaving
Left my glass half full
Chorus:
Empty slate
Thoughts erased
Can’t feel like a fool
When you’re shit faced
The glass is half full
(Ahhhhh)
My glass is half full
(Ahhhhh)
My glass is half full
Bridge:
Waking up in pain
In the afternoon rays
Sleep away the shame
Feeling sick without you baby
Feeling so empty
Waking up in pain
In the afternoon rays
Sleep away the shame
Feeling so half empty
So I do it again
Chorus:
Empty slate
Thoughts erased
Can’t feel like a fool
When you’re shit faced
My glass is half full
My glass is half full
(Ahhhhh)
My glass is half full
(Ahhhhh)
My glass is half full
