You managed to avoid Chief Vick for the rest of the night. Hotch refused to let you go to the bar to order drinks and insisted on going instead. Each time he did, you watched from behind as he looked over his shoulder at Vick for a stare-down. He was set at attention and made sure to fill out his upper body as he stood tall and firm, giving the chief a look that said something along the lines of ‘I know you wouldn’t even dare.’ He noticed Hotch each time he got up to approach the bar, and just as it would be, he never dared. He would only glance over to eye him slightly, then resume conversation with the men he arrived with. Your stomach fluttered as you watched this happen, every time, seeing Hotch look so strong and protective as he stood his ground in your honor. You couldn’t help but smile just watching him from the table, feeling the dominance radiating from him. It gave you bursts of energy. It made you feel even better than the alcohol that was already warming your blood.
You were all starting round four when Hotch returned with drinks, sitting back down in the middle of a heated debate.
