Izuku Midoriya: Slytherin Pukwudgie
Look at this precious bean! He may seem like a Hufflepuff or a Gryffindor but remember, sorting is about what someone values, not what they already are. It took me while to think about it, but I’m convinced this sweet boy is a Slytherin. Despite showing traits in Bravery, Kindness, and Tenacity, Izuku is inspired by Ambition, Determination, Leadership, and Resourcefulness and uses them frequently in battle as well. His Analysis Notebooks on Heroes are what I consider a good starting point for him being a Slytherin. Izuku is constantly gaining new information, but he likes to concentrate his focus on Hero Stats since they give him an edge in battle as we’ve already seen in his first fight against Bakugou, the Sports Festival, and various other battles he’s been in. His first instinct is to strategize and gain the upper hand based on the information he’s found. He’s usually found success this way and tries to find new ways to strategize. He shows quite a lot of Cunning, Cleverness and Resourcefulness during these moments, catching others off guard including Aizawa, Toshinori, and even Katsuki at times. Izuku’s undying passion for his goal to become the new Symbol of Peace and wanting to grow as a hero display his values in Determination and Ambition as he’ll do whatever it takes to become the best Symbol of Peace he can. Despite being quite soft and kind to others, when battle ready Izuku is Confident and clearly enjoys the competition to be the best, he just isn’t loud about it like Katsuki. He’s quite adaptable with new information as well and tries to work around what would best work in certain situations with what he is given. I should also note that in the beginning Izuku was passive and shy whenever it came to Leadership roles, but that doesn’t mean he just avoids it completely. In fact he’s gotten quite better at leading others through teams and shows a clear want to inspire others around him. As for his Pukwudgie sorting, Izuku is known for being quite open and understanding of others and how they’re feeling. He uses Determination, Cunning, Resourcefulness, and Leadership skills to help and save others. He’s also shown some Self-Preservation in some parts of the show, whether it be not taking Kacchan’s crap, making sure to have an effective plan before engaging in fighting, and constantly improving his uses with One for All. Fraternity is also a value he seems to value and display as he will never leave any of his classmates or person behind when they’re having trouble. He’s inspired his classmates to look out for each other just by his actions alone. Say what you want about Izuku but just because he’s kind doesn’t mean hes a pushover. It should be noted that although he starts off as being the shy passive kid, he clearly shows an admiration for those who are usually viewed as leaders for their no nonsense and confident personalities such as Katsuki, Iida, and Todoroki. He wants to become this as well, and works hard to get there. His Slytherin and Pukwudgie sorting make him Adaptable in Understanding how others work, making him quite empathetic and perfect in inspiring others to do their best. When he isn’t on the battle field Izuku is one of the sweetest characters in the series and often willing to lend a hand in helping others succeed. In a way he’s able to heal their spirits and the ambition of others by seeing their good qualities and what makes them useful as heroes. Pukwudgie values the Heart and Healers, and let me tell you, if you really watched this series, youd know how big this boi’s heart is.
Katsuki Bakugou: Gryffindor Wampus
Although some would argue that Katsuki displays Slytherin traits because of his personality, the way he’s grown throughout the series and chooses to deal with situations have convinced me he’s a Gryffindor. Gryffindor and Slytherin appear similar in their need to prove themselves but do it in different ways. Izuku chooses to handle situations with Cunning and uses a lot of what he’s learned in order to handle battles. Katsuki although quite smart and ambitious, chooses to handle things head on and is Daring and Courageous in battle. In the episode where Izuku and Katsuki have to face All Might, it perfectly presents their preferred tactics on the situation. Katsuki prefers to charge head on blindly and take All Might down with all he’s got and becomes increasingly angry with Izuku because he prefers to strategize instead of dealing with the issue head on. I consider Katsuki to be another unorthodox Gryffindor (Like Nico Robin) because his personality screams Slytherin but the way he handles situations and what he values in his life scream Gryffindor. After thinking it through, I concluded that he’s a Gryffindor that first values negative qualities that can be shown in some Gryffindors and is slowly starting to value some of the positive qualities. At their worst, Gryffindors are arrogant, reckless, and are constantly seeking glory for themselves. (Similar to Slytherins, but they’re more upfront about it) This is especially seen in Katsuki in the beginning of the series where everything he does is geared towards becoming a hero with burning and reckless passion. As the series goes on though, his fixed attitude on what a hero should be gets him in trouble and ends up having him facing the reality of being a hero really is. We can all agree that Katsuki in general is Fearless, Trailblazing, and Daring but I think a lot of the time within the series he seems to only consider how he looks on the outside to himself and others without considering or thinking about what he values inside (or at least admitting it out loud) The way I see it, Katsuki is obviously all of these things but like I’ve said with most Gryffindors they tend to put themselves down in some areas and consider themselves useless because of their weak spots. Katsuki knows that he’s awesome at what he does but he’s a perfectionist and always wants to be the best out of everyone. The one thing he absolutely isn’t good at though is dealing with his true feelings/ feelings towards others. I believe he’s a Gryffindor because he wants to become Brave and Courageous with what he really feels and values without the fear of sounding weak (at least in his mind). We already know he’s Brave, Courageous, Daring, in the battlefield but I think part of his character growth and becoming a hero in the series for him is to come to terms with his own weakness with his emotions and deciding what kind of hero he wants to be. As for the Wampus sorting, Katsuki is able to show his heroism through his actions and his instincts in battle. The Wampus House favors Warriors and the Body, and Katsuki is the very definition of what a Warrior is. He’s constantly training his quirk and his body in order to be the best hero. His Gryffindor and Wampus sorting make him Unstoppable, Daring, and Couargeous in Battle. His sorting combination makes him a Hero that is able to push and challenge others to be beyond better than what they are by directly challenging them without hesitation and wanting them to step up to his level, because let’s face it he’s pretty badass.
Toshinori Yagi/All Might: Hufflepuff Wampus
I know this sorting looks kind of cliche and obvious but sometimes it just be like that honestly. Toshinori shows traits of Bravery, Courage, Chivalry, Ambition, Determination, and Leadership (Gryffindor/Slytherin) but has significantly valued more of the Hufflepuff values compared to the others. This can especially be shown with how he trains Izuku physically, mentally, and emotionally for becoming a Hero. Not only that but also in the reasons he chose Izuku to be the next Symbol of Peace. Although Izuku wasn’t naturally Brave, Unique, or even as qualified as other kids were (Mirio as an example) upon first meeting him, Toshinori chose him based off the fact that Izuku still rescued someone and put himself in danger despite just being a quirkless boy. His very definition of what a Hero should be. In other words being Kind/Dedicated for the sake of it, instead of just for show. The Hufflepuff House seems to be known for caring about people as a whole and make it a significant part of themselves to value the well-being of others no matter how they originally come off at first. (Law, Zoro, Brook, others I’ll mention later.) This is especially seen in Toshinori as well in both his forms. He’s a little rough around the edges, especially with being the Number One Hero in MHA but doesn’t fail to show how much he values and tries to teach Hard Work, Dedication, Kindness, and Patience in his work and to his students. Toshinori is inspired by not necessarily Bravery to overcome personal fear…but I think it’s more about being Brave for the sake of others even when you know the odds are against you. He also firmly believes in helping others rise up by showing Kindness to them and taking the time to see people as equals when rescuing or encouraging them, as he can see the potential in every person, quirkless or not. Along with that Toshinori’s methods of teaching and handling situations are more practical and straightforward, something I’ve come to notice in Hufflepuffs as well, as they aren’t concerned with how the issue gets solved, but more in the fact that it gets solved for the the sake of the person going through the issue. One of the main things that convinced me of him being a Hufflepuff though was the fact of how hard he worked in order to be the Number One Hero and even then he’s attained this position just for the sake of helping others through pure Dedication for them. I feel like a huge majority of what plays into Toshinori showing and valueing all the Hufflepuff traits is his Wampus sorting. Toshinori uses his Body in order to protect and save others, and has been noted to have learned how to use One for All (albeit recklessly) quite fast when he first attained it. He knows how to stay on top of his A Game much like Katsuki in battle and he’ll literally put himself into physical danger (in either form might I add) if it means he’ll be able to save someone else. His Hogwarts and Ilvermorny sorting combination make him someone Noble, Kind, and Sacrificing when helping and rescuing others. Not only that but he’s able to see the potential in everyone as a Hero and show them that Hard Work and Dedication alone can get you anywhere in life no matter where you come from. (Oof get me a man like that)
